too young, 6 year old tend to be very clumsy and they can get stains on things. Mini speedys are cheaper than the rest, however, If you must, I wouls say get her the Milla pm in regular monogram, theres not much vachetta leather on it, so she would not be able to mess it up,... and...... you could use it too for on the go days!

i know we hate knockoffs on here but my mother bought me a speedy knock off when i was a little girl (and im not ashamed to admit that i had a ko when i was in middle school)...then when i got older (hs), she allowed for me to use her older ones...

ed hardy sells bags that look like speedys maybe that will work.

A 6 year old? I would never give a Speedy to someone so young. They have no idea who Louis Vuitton or what fashion is at such a young age. The only reason I see is if you would want to double your own accessory look. That's my opinion.

Oh my I was 16 when I got my first designer handbag, 6 is way to young she needs to learn the value first. I would say maybe by 13 she would understand more about the value in a handbag

I just read somewhere that Tom and Katie are buying little Suri Cruise like an $850 handbag and she is only 4. To each his own, I guess. It is definitely up to you and what you decide to do with your money. I have a boy so my $200 usually goes to the newest gaming system, and he's an only child so he gets pretty much what he wants. So do what feels right to you!

I have three boys, so I am no help, and only one of them is a designer boy, we have to buy the Levis skinny jeans and only Nikes or Vans shoes

I have 2 boys but as a handbag lover and a mother of a 6 year old as well, I think it's entirely your decision whether or not to get her a bag. If that's her passion, you can't blame her. I mean, why are you on here? Probably because you love handbags, the same reason as all of us. I have gotten my 6 year old the Wii, xbox, playstation and many other handheld games to award him for his good behavior and doing good in school. Those probably add up to a few LV's...lol. But to me, my 6 year old is more mature than most 6 year old boys and he listens and cooperates. If you feel like your 6 year old is responsible enough to have a designer bag and you can afford it, then you should get it for her BUT also lecture her on how to take care of it and how much it's worth. It would also be a good beginning to teach serious responsibility.

I think that's too young. Unless she can give you a very good reason and strong backing of her desire I'm gonna have to say no.

hehe, my mom gave me a Coach / Chanel knockoff when I was a kid too. That time not a lot of people carried designer bags / Coach bags in my town, so I didn't have a problem with it. I think when I got to my mid teens I began to understand what they actually are.

My mom never bought me a designer bag. Instead she insists I borrow hers. ><; I was never a fan of her LV's.

I have two girls, 10 and 4 – no way I would get either of them a designer bag (nor let them use mine!) May I suggest just taking her somewhere where they sell normal kids accessories and let her pick something? Something she can actually carry, take the to the park, drop her toys and snacks in, and treat as well or as poorly as she likes.

Not to mention: something that noone will want to grab from her and run away with.

That said, it is ultimately up to you.

I totally agree. someone could hurt her. or even worse they could see the bag assume what she could be worth and ask for ransome! (worst senario)

I have a 4 yo daughter and I buy her expensive clothes but I would not buy her a designer handbag. I just think there's a line that should be drawn. She was in the Coach store with me the other day and was dying for me to buy her something but I just refused. I took her Claires instead and let her pick out a crappy little toy cell phone instead, lol. I think kids should stick with bags that are more age appropriate until they can really appreciate them. Just my 2 cents. :)
