I think you should do whatever you think is appropriate, or OK with you. Other people's opinions really shouldn't sway your decision. Does it really matter what age someone has something expensive or luxury? Or does it matter how much money something costs that someone of a certain age should have it? If that person can afford to buy it, or buy someone something of value or reputation of being luxurious, then good for them.

I agree that only we can decide what is best for our children but the OP did ask for our opinions so we are sharing. My thought on this probably differs from most but this is my opinion.
    So here goes...

I would much rather spend $200-$300 on my child a classic LV bag than a video gaming system. We spend that much on our son's games and then in couple of years when that system is obsolete, you get nothing for it when you trade it in or try to sell it. At least with a designer bag, purchased pre-owned, you get your money back or more if you choose to sell. Also with a LV it is a classic bag that she can carry for many years or even pass down to her daughter.

Again this is just my opinion.

    I agree with you ZG!

But I wouldn't buy her a brand new. My daughter has my old purses that are too small and I don't use anymore. I hope to one day pass on my LV and others to her. BTW she is only 18 months but she only plays with them. So I guess it depends on you situation.

If Mr BRS and I had a kid and we got her something like that, I think Mr BRS's mom would disown us! LOL! Seriously, she would probably have a heart attack.

But, like the other girls said, do as you wish. Only you know how responsible your daughter is with things, so only you would know if the bag had a high probability of meeting its maker. Some kids are very kind to their things. I remember treasuring my toys and wanting nothing bad to happen to them. My brother, on the other hand, spent his time smashing his Matchbox cars flat with large rocks in the back yard (they were made of metal back then, so you could do that). Yeah... needless to say, my mom was pretty pissed.

I think if you should get her what she wants..That sounds a little spoiled but if get her a toy or game instead at that price range then why not spend the money on a LV which is something she wants. You are going to spend the money either way. Perseonally I dont think she is young. Isnt that what they have Mini's for?? I was going to get my daughter a mini speedy for her 1st bday ( she 14 months now)but I ended up getting her a JC cuz most of her clothes is JC...
Bottom line It's what YOU want, the situation, if you have the money or not, does she really want, it, will she take care of it, Only you know your Child.. Go with what you feel and maybe not what others will think..

Just MY opinion. Dont feel bad everyone sees the situation different.

I think 6 is a bit young.. Maybe if you wait like 6 months or so and se if she still talks about it and want it, then you can think of getting her one. She should show that she REALLY wants it before you get her one otherwise it will probably just end up in the closet somewere..
I was just about dubble her age when I got my first "real" bag(13, last year) and I think I was a bit to young. But I proved to my parents that I wanted it bad and saved money for it myself.
My point is: if she really wants a bag, she will talk a lot about it and try to get it. Otherwise she would probably be just as happy with a regular toy.

Having a daughter myself, there are times when I want to buy her the world. But then I think about it, really think about it, and I don't. Because if I buy her things like designer bags now, at the age of 7, what is there to look forward to in the future? Our designers of choice right now are Juicy and Ed Hardy. Thankfully they are trendy, my kids love the shirts and shoes and they don't cost a fortune.
Personally I'd start with the small stuff. She will become bored with whatever you give her within the week regardless of what it is.

Yeah. I think 6 is a little too young. Maybe get her a Coach or Dooney and Burke, they are a little cheaper handbag.

6 is wayyy to young, when I was 6 all I wanted were beanie babies and didn't even get the point of a purse. Plus I would be very afraid she'd loose it or get it dirty and such. Start small and slowly build up to where she can fully apreciate a LV bag.

If you can get it cheap, then go for it. There are also some cute inspired by kids bags out there (not knock offs). But hey, I bought my 12 year a new Carlos Falchi for Christmas... only it was $69 on eBay! SCORE! I can even borrow! I still have my little green wicker bag with silk flowers from my Esster outfit when I was 6 or 7. Fond memories. That LV could be that bag for her!

Hey, I just realized where my woven fetish comes from! No wonder I adore BV and KK!

ITA, how can this teach her to be responsible with handbags if she doesn't even know what it is?
Darlings, To appreciate the fine things in life you must start out with what is not. Otherwise you will never know the difference.

I have been using lipstick since I could craw ( 2-3 years old), honestly I did not know the difference between a good lipstick and a bad lipstick. I just knew It was lipstick and I wanted to get a head start on enchancing my beauty

6 is too young to understand the value or worth of the handbag. they barely know what the various denominations mean and they have no concept of expensive or cheap. Nor do they understand that money is earned through hardwork.
I have young children and lots of nephews and nieces and i would never buy them an expensive designer item or let them receive it as a gift. at that age they need to focus their energy and attention on building their character and learning good values such as helping others, not being mean and being respectful, rather than initiate them to a materialistic way of thinking.

But that's just my opinion...no offense intended

Ohhh I love to dress up my kids and to be my mini-ME but not my LV... Exposing them to branded bags, shoes, dresses might be ok in later years. Maybe 30, when they can buy it themselves..LOL

I would give her a allowance and have her save up for it. If she still wants to spend the money on it after then she's ready and responsible enough to own it.
