The Jaguar is from 1969. So it is 40 years old.... Jags are known if any mechanical problems.... however they do look very pretty!

The E type came on in 1961 and ended in 1973. There were the following series - Series I, Series 1 and a half, Series 2, and Series 3.

    This is a Series 2.

It is a 2 +2. This is the least desired configuration. The roadster is 1st following of the 2 seater coupe. The 2 + 2 is something of a compromise.

Archie, besides the Jag not being very attractive (in my opinion), I don't think it would be very practical. KWIM? Stick with a decent looking car like your Honda. It'll last you many years and you can take your whole family along for the ride.

Keep the Honda...I thought your job was not doing well anyways. Better stay practical right now!

Good point. Don't you have young kids? I can't imagine young kids and a Jag mix well. Hondas can take a beating and have a pretty good resell value.

You've stated before that you like your Honda and that it works for your family. That's all that matters. It works for YOU.

Who cares what those other people think! You should be judged on the content of your character and not on what you do or do not have.

Yes, there are people out there who will judge you for these petty, shallow things....but #### them I say.

    Think about it......

ITA, why do you care so much about what others think of you!!!

You shouldn't care so much what other people think of you. Your personality is what makes you YOU not material things!

I def. wouldn't get the Jag, my parents have a vintage XJS that always has something wrong with it, always.

If there's nothing wrong with your Honda, keep it. But I understand the need, more so want, to get a "nicer" car. Just do your research first. Good luck.

Hey, Hondas are really awesome... it's reliable and economical.. plus great re-sale value!

And you are right that Mercs have mechanical problems. Furthermore, the depreciation rate is insanely high!!! European cars depreciation rate is higher than Japanese and more expensive to repair. Not worth it, really...

My dad has been driving a Mercedes for many years (different models each time...E-class, S-class etc) and frankly, after 5 years, you can totally give it up because they really start falling apart! I dont know about other people but our Mercedes cars do not make it past 5 years and we buy most of them brand new - 2 brand new, 2 used.

So yeah, go with the Honda! My mom used to drive a Japanese car (Nissan) and its awesome! We've switched to European cars now but in terms of value for money, Japanese cars win hands down!!!

And contrary to popular belief, Japanese cars usually have cutting edge technology and gizmos! Some of those are even far more advance than Mercedes...

Bill Gates drove a Ford Taurus for many many years.

Of course, when you're Bill, you don't need to impress anyone at all.

Sometimes I feel the need to impress people, but certain people. Like the snobby b-words from school. Most of the time I could care less, but it is those people from school that make women feel certain ways even as an adult.

    Hello Girls,
Thanks for all the good advice. I appreciate your feedback.

There is nothing wrong with the Honda..... I was just thinking that perhaps a prestige European car would be great..... but once I did the sums...... IT WAS STUPID THINKING!

The Honda a really good. The only thing was my "ego" ...... ego gets me into trouble alot of the time!

Thanks girls..... I LOVE THE HONDA and also.... it leave money for my LV hobby!!!!

Personally, I think an Accord is a really nice car. I've always bought cars that speak to me, not speak to others about me. I would go with what makes you happy, not what you think others will envy.
At this point, with the economy as it is, and you losing your job, I would probably forgo the new car for now and be content with the Accord. There are many who would love to have your car. You'll have time down the road to upgrade.
