    Default Zipper pull replacement?

    Hello all,

Well since I've leapt into LV territory and got a speedy, I really do love it. It holds so much with room for more!

Of course it was used, and so I cleaned it up with brass cleaner for the tarnished parts and used baby wipes lightly on the handles and I must say it's looking pretty good I think! I don't think you can tell it's age.

My only concern is the leather zipper pull seems fragile. The leather is cracked near the brass (stud?) and it looks like if I'm not very careful with it, it will break off.

I've read that you can get LV to replace these type things.

Have any of you had a problem with the zipper pull and had it replaced?
What was involved and what was the cost?

I feel very lucky to have found this bag in otherwise great condition and would like to know what to do if it breaks (or before)...

    Thanks for your time....

Darn. After looking at the repair section on the LV website, it looks like they'll only replace parts on bags up to 10 years old? I thought it was indefinite....

    Guess I'm outta luck?

The only thing you can do is go into a store and ask.

I would do that but I can't speak Japanese well enough to know what to say...I guess I will either go up to the LV store here and see if someone speaks english or try to wait until we get back to the states....as long as I'm careful with it, it should be ok.

Ohh I just found that there's a LV store just a few minutes train ride away from me, I think I will go there this week and see if they can help instead of having to go all the way into central Tokyo.....

    I got my answer.

My friend and I just got back from the LV store that's close to us. I brought her along to translate for me!

They are gonna replace the zipper pull for a little over 2000 yen (about $20) and make it match the rest of the vachetta. I pick it up May 14. Yea!

Well I picked my speedy back up today from having the zipper pull replaced.

I don't know what I was expecting...I should have realized more that they would not be able to get it to match closely to the rest of the vachetta....I guess it's hard to fake what makes it so pretty naturally...I'm kind of hating it. The new zipper pull sticks out to much to me (be/c the color) and makes it look fake I think.

    Am I being too picky?
But I do think it would of been even more noticeable if I hadn't gotten them to try to match the color.

Here are some pics, anyone care to let me know what you think?
Does the new zipper pull look terrible since it's not the same color as the rest?

It looks fine to me. With use it will darken in no time at all.

This is the weakness of the Speedie and Lockit.....

My wife's Speedie also needs a replacement......

Thanks for advising how inexpensive this was.

    Kind regards,
