Question Need your advice on my first LV!

Hi everyone, I am new here and would need your expert opinions on my first LV bag!

I am looking for an everyday bag from LV, and am torn between the following choices:

    1) Monogram Vernis Alma (Amarante)
    - But it seems to require more care due to its patent leather
    - Do you think it's suitable for daily usage?

    2) Speedy 25 in Epi Leather (Cassis)
    - I'm worried that the base of the Speedy will "sink downwards" due to the weight of all I'm carrying (could you advise if it's true with Speedy bags that the design is not meant for heavier stuff?)

Could you help me to decide?

speedys do sag and thats just because of the way they are made. I love mine.

I LOVE the vernis line, and personally do not own a speedy, but from everything I have read, I think the speedy would make a better everyday bag. I bought the new alma in vert tonic and ended up taking it back. It was beautiful, but so akward to hold because it was so stiff, and I knew it wasn't going to get any softer. Plus, it was so big, when I walked it bounced against my leg and drove me nuts!!! One of the shoulder bags in the vernis may not be so bad.

With the Speedy, you can always order a base shaper which will stop the bottom from sagging. I have a Neverfull that does the same thing, but I got a base shaper for it and now I use it as my work bag and it can hold a ton of stuff and the bottom doesn't sag at all.

I think that the epi speedies don't sag as much as the canvas ones, since the epi leather is stiffer.

How much/what stuff do you usually bring? I think the epi speedy could definitely handle it, more so than the vernis alma...vernis is definitely not as delicate as people thing, but it still is probably not the best option as a daily bag for carrying a bunch of stuff.
    Now on a BAN!

I vote for the epi speedy. I'm not sure if epi speedy actually sags as the canvas line. I tried on an epi 25 speedy in the store and it looks pretty sturdy to me.

im personally more attracted to the alma amarante. beautiful color, BEAUTIFUL bag in general. and id happily be jealous of you. if i saw you on the sidewalk with that alma amarante, id probably turn my head. speedy epi cassis? not so much. its not as "everyday" as the epi speedy by many people's standards, though.

all i can say is, go for what youd be most excited and proud of to wear on your arm. and pre-congrats on your future purchase!

Thanks for all your informative feedback and well wishes!

After a week of intense thinking, I have narrowed down my choices to the following two:

    1) Monogram Vernis Bellevue GM in Amarante

    2) Damier Azur Galleria PM

I'm about 5"7, skinny with really long hair and have a tendency to just stuff everything in my bag (sweater, clothes, a novel and A4 documents for client meetings).

Some of my friends vote for #1, some for #2.. what do you think?

Will be heading to the store tomorrow to make the purchase!

I say go for the Bellevue. The color will look amazing on it, and it won't get dirty like the Galliera.

Hi Chubbygenie, the mono. speedy does sag a lot but the epi. is much more structured! As far as durability goes, I think the Epi. is hardier than the Vernis, but you might consider the "30" instead of the "25" speedy, as it is quite small!

    Good luck in your choice!

I think that the Vernis Alma in Amarante, while beautiful, is just not an everyday bag. I have it and love it but def don't want to carry it everyday. It's very large and can get too heavy depending on how much you put into it. You can wear it with jeans and a t-shirt, but I wouldn't wear it with khakis and a polo. I wear the speedy style much more.

If you think you can wear purple everyday then go for it. Epi leather will look practically new forever and is much stiffer than mono canvas. If it still sags too much for you then put a magazine in the bottom or get an actual base shaper.
