A refreshing twist of the Damier Collection is here and it goes by the name of Azur, a light color combo of soft blue in the same checked pattern as the retro Damier collection. What's in the name? Cate d’azur! The new collection is named after Cote d’azur French Riviera.

So it's finally here. A long wait yes I know. I have been waiting since back in July to get a glimpse at the new Azur collection. You know really I wish that they released this line back in July or at least waited until this up and coming July or the spring season to hit. It’s a lovely collection and all, one that I surely want a piece of, but the light hues combined with the light (until ages of course) leather handles just paints the image of laying on the beach at a tropical resort or strolling around aimlessly in some Mediterranean village, not really walking down the dark and gloom streets during the winter season. Hum, the bags sure are cute though, definitely bumps down their fraternal twin the chocolate colored Damier a notch down on my list.

Keep in mind that the Damier Azur collection is new, but the Damier pattern has a long history with the fashion house Louis Vuitton. The Damier Canvas pattern is made of a checkerboard pattern combining light and dark brown boxes and debuted in 1888, back when Louis Vuitton was only in the business of producing luggage for the rich and famous. Then Louis Vuitton continued advancing, trying to make it more difficult for counterfeiters to replicate his designs and in 1896, Louis Vuitton crafted now known as the classic line, the Monogram Canvas that is also an icon for the Louis Vuitton brand today. That’s the brief little history on the (chocolate) Damier collection. Now time for the new stuff.

This collection is simply gawwgeous!! I really hope with a big fat cherry on top that they come out with the Papillon in this collection!!!!!
