    Default Confession time-

Who here has bought a fake LV before they were educated enough about bags to know better?
I did, and the first time I saw an authentic LV, I was embarrassed that I was fooled so easily.
I never carried the fake out in public, it went into the trash and I consider it a lesson I needed to learn the hard way.
    Mine was purchased on ebay

I've never purchased a fake, but I was looking at some "louis vuitton bags" at some wholesale place at the mall once. I had no knowledge of the brand and I was pretty tempted. BUt, my lovely mother gave me a lecture about scams, fakes, and stuff. So I walked away. Thank Goodness.

I've never purchased a fake bag ever. But, my grandma bought me a fake LV pouchette from the Philippines about two years ago. I never carried it b/c I knew it was a fake bag. Instead of tossing it out, I gave it to my other grandma and she sent it back to the Philippines where it came from.

I never purchased a fake LV. However, I did unknowingly buy a fake Coach wallet. I had researched Coach but I was still pretty naive back then. Everything looked so good in the pictures. Alignment was good, box looked good, tag looked good, etc etc. It wasn't until I received it in the mail did I become suspicious. My first clue was that the tags and the box were not the same as in the picture. I believe this is why I originally joined the forum. I knew that Coach bags had YKK zippers, but I didn't know whether or not wallets did. I learned that they do and that this wallet did not have one. Later I learned about the drill down and discovered that the style number didn't match up with what I had. Luckily I was able to return the wallet to the seller and get a refund. Ever since then I have made it a point to learn everything I could about fake bags and how to spot them.

Before I even knew about fakes I bought 2 Chanels. I remember this girl kept looking at me really weird when I carried one of them out once. I just had this feeling it was the bag I was carrying. Later on that night I started researching the bags on line to see if they were legit. To my dismay, I found out that they were replicas. I've never carried them since. I am very embarrassed to even say that I have done that. I wish I would have known about fakes before I bought them because for I spent on them, I could have bought a real one. I still have them in the back of my closet. I really don't know what to do with them. Lesson learned and I will never do that again.

Done...I think...Until I find something that catches my eye

Well I remember when I bought a Chanel HOPING it was real...but I came on here to have it authenticated and sure enough, it was fake! I acutally ripped it up at threw it away at my cousin's house!

I had a feeling it was too good to be true because it was only $22.00...

I think we all did at one time or another. It's probably the biggest reason for coming here and other sites like this.... to be educated so you aren't taken again.

Yup I've gotten a fake LV and a fake Coach during freshman year of college, and my friend who owned real ones helped me to figure out that they were fake (I had real Coach's by then too, but didn't know what to look for). I was so sad But I should've known, the prices were wayyyy too good to be true.

If you buy your luxury items directly from the company or at reputable department stores (Dillard's, Macy's, Saks, etc) or eLuxury, then you shouldn't have a problem. Buying secondhand is risky and unless you know exactly what you are looking for, I wouldn't do it. Personally, the only way I would is if I wanted to buy a vintage piece that wasn't available anymore and even then I doubt I would buy on eBay.

Coach I wouldn't buy from a Coach store...I would buy from Dillard's, Macy's or the outlets only on SALE!! (Unless its a gorgeous Carly bag )

Louis Vuitton - only from the boutiques or eLuxury

Where does one find authentic Chanel online? I have searched but haven't found anywhere to order...

ita with Nash. If you want to buy a bag brand new, then you should always check out department stores or the actual boutique. But if you're looking to save a couple bucks, definitely check out bluefly or reputable ebay sellers.

Yeah, I can't believe there are still so many fakes floating around on ebay.. very sad. But atleast ebay has stepped it up over the years reducing the numbers.

I rarely buy bags on eBay or secondhand shops, but I was at a "luxury" secondhand shop who swore they have people checking items over & over, so I purchased a LV epi wallet that looked good in the store. After I took it home & examined it some more, something just didn't seem right... I knew it was a fake. I immediately went back to the store & got a refund.

Embarrassingly enough, before i really knew about designer bags, and how bad fakes are, i actually pestered my grandma for a fake Chanel in a used clothing store. Thankfully she said no, and i know look back at that incident and cringe. Needless to say I'm very glad i found tbf and learned just how bad fakes are. I do think i may have a fake Kate Spade but I'm not sure, so until i can get it authenticated, I'm not carrying it.
