Default Issues with school again! Help!

Alright, I'm having a severe problem here. I have two classes that I absolutely NEED to take in the spring. One is a Bio class and one is a Soc class. Originally the Bio class was scheduled for 10:00 - 10:50 and the Soc class was scheduled for 11:00 - 11:50. Well, we got the finalized class schedules today and they moved the Bio class to 11:00 - 11:50. Now what do I do? I won't be able to take one of the classes now.

More Info: The Bio class is only offered every other spring semester and next year is supposed to be my last year. The Soc class is normally offered every spring semester. If I don't take the Bio class, then I won't be taking it at all. But if I don't take the Soc class, I'm worried it will conflict with other classes I'll need to take next year. I also don't know what I'll take in place of one of these classes (because I would be short credit hours for the semester). I can't be wasting credit hours taking classes I don't need. I have all my gen education requirements fulfilled. It is all major/minor stuff... and nothing is coming together right.

I hated it when they did that to me! Gosh, so inconvenient. Could you maybe take a course online through another school, and have the credits carry over?

What about a summer class? I did that and they let me walk with the rest of the class, even though I hadn't taken that class yet.
Or maybe you could take it online through another school or a school close by?

They don't offer online classes there. I can't take it at another school because I wouldn't get financial aid for it. It's a higher level Soc class though that has to do with the environmental studies minor... so I wonder if anyone even offers an equivalent.

I'm just so worried because if my classes get messed around with too much, then I may not have all the classes I need to graduate next year. I'm already going an extra year as it is.

::sigh:: Alright, it is apparent that I cannot take the Soc class because I need to take the Bio class. This is a really tough decision because the Soc class is required for my minor and I'm worried about the possibility of it conflicting with something else next year. There is a class that I really want to take next year, but it will only be offered in the Spring semester (this will be spring 2010). I'm scared that since this class is taught by the same professor as this Bio class that I need to take now, that there is the possibility that it will conflict with this Soc class if I try to take it next year. Agh! This is so difficult!
But anyway, to take the place of this class I won't be taking next semester, I have found one that will apply towards my minor. The problem is that it is later in the afternoon. That means I would be at school from 8:00am to 4:30pm on a couple of days and 8:00am to 2:00pm on a couple of other days. This would REALLY conflict with me working because I have to maintain a 20 hour/week average. Oh dear... what to do!

Wow that is some madness. But, I think youve made the right choice. SOmetimes I guess you just have to tough it out.

I hope your work place is really understanding of your situation.

They might understand, but that doesn't necessarily mean they wouldn't decide to change my employment status. I don't want to loose what little benefits I still have (e.g. vacation time).

well think of it this way, if you study during your breaks at school, you can work later at your job instead of leaving early to go home and study

Woah, your system seems sooo much different to ours, but I didn't get my first choices for my history this year either because of clashes. I would suggest maybe work just the weekends, you could get atleast 16 hours there and maybe one evening? Is that possible with your job now or could you move to a different job? It is really hard trying to work, socialise and fit in studying too. I'm contending with that myself as I start a new job this week, where I will be working 4pm-9pm for 5 nights a week until training is over. Good luck and stay positive!!

I think you made the right decision by taking the bio class. I wouldn't stress about next year already, it's not worth it. Since it is a requirement of your degree, I am sure that if you talked to your advisor they could figure this all out. Good luck with your new schedule and work!

    bRs...

go to LSU Independent and Distance Learning and see if you can take a correspondence course that your university will accept. I did this for a business law class I had to take. It was only $275 at the time (probably 2004ish) and pretty straightforward. You will have up to one year to complete the class (you have to request extensions, though so be sure to read anything you get in the mail from them)

Your university should transfer the grade in since LSU is accredited. I would definately choose a state school over an online school any day for transferring credit in. Check with your advisor though

    Hope this helps

Thanks Nashville. I checked it out, but they don't offer the course. The course I need to take is a sociology class that has to do with human population and how it effects the environment.

That sucks. I was hoping it was just the general sociology class that most people have to take in college. Maybe there's another place for correspondence or maybe you can do it online through your own school? I would definately talk to your advisor about your concerns, and they should be able to help you out or guide you.
