Back from NYC
We are back from NYC and I am tapped out for a bit. We stayed at the Soho Grand and I highly recommend it. It was so clean and upscale. I'm such a hotel freak and this definitely met my expectations. Plus it had darling wallpaper in the bathroom. I love little touches like that.
We ate at several new restaurants. Sushi Samba in Greenwich and Bun Pho in Soho. Both excellent.
Saturday we headed to LV and I tried the Manon PM and MM. I wasn't thrilled. At least that gets me off obsessing over which one of those I want and I can now move onto other bags. I saw a Bal pompom for the first time at Barneys' and fell in love. I am now on the hunt for one in Sapphire. They are amazing and very hard to find.
The Barney's Warehouse Sale was a let down and just too crowded. I'd rather pay full price than fight the crowds. Same with Century 21. Although I did get 3 pairs of shoes there. They had a crazy selection of Chloe shoes so I took advantage of that.
At Barney's I tried on a Mike and Chris leather jacket and they are running extremely small. I usually wear a XS or S and the M was even super snug. This is definitely something you can't wear a sweater with, unless it is a skinny one. But... Vince has some awesome sweater coats for fall and I picked one up in black.
I found a fabulous store in Soho called Olive & Bette's. They have a ton of cashmere and maxi dresses. They also ship and seem to have "hard to find" pieces from all the latest designers.
All in all, we had a wonderful weekend and I can't wait to go back.

Re: Back from NYC
Wow sounds like you had fun! New Chloe shoes??
I've never been to the Barneys Wearhouse sale, but I've seen pics and heard that it's mad house.
Also congrats on your new Vince jacket (

Oooh I love NYC!! I'm going in November with my sister, staying at Essex House - sooo exciting!! I didn't have time to check out C21 last time, is it worth a visit? What makes do they sell? Did you go to Woodbury Common? Oh my lord... that place is fab!!

Re: Back from NYC
C21 has some great brands. They have everything from Vince to Alice and Olivia to Velvet to True Religion to Ed Hardy and so on. They also have a lot of blech brands. The shoes are hit and miss. There is everything from Cole Haan to Steve Madden to Euro brands like Chloe and Ferragamo.
That being said, you'll be hard pressed to find outfits and the sizing is very limited.
We didn't go to Woodbury because it's a ways out of the city and I already have Orlando and the Naples outlets that I hit up sporatically.
And also, there are so many amazing stores in Soho and Greenwich that you can spend a day in each area easily.Thinking of...

Re: Back from NYC
I only go to C21 if there is a rain storm, less people and more time to look around. I went on Labor Day and it was the biggest mistake ever.

Re: Back from NYC
I agree... Century 21 has GREAT designer deals.. but my gosh.. you would think it's xmas everytime you go in there ANY time of the year! And people get there at the crack of dawn.. just to get in. I went to the purse section once.. and there was stuff EVERYWHERE. I left that store so quick.. and went shopping in soho. Great deals.. but not worth the mess or aggravation of the crowds.

Re: Back from NYC
I used to work on Spring Street where Olive & Bettes is. It's a cute store - there is also Wink, Flying A, etc there too. Great shopping.
Good to hear you had fun!! I'm trying so hard to get back to NYC...this Vermont life is NOT for me. I'm a city girl.
Century 21 is okay - I used to work there when I was 15. hehe...it sucks to work out because people are CRAZY!!!!

Re: Back from NYC
Lmao, thanks for the advice all! Maybe I'll jus stick to W.C instead then, C21 sounds a tad mental! Maeveyblue, how long were you in NYC for? Also, is the Barneys warehouse sale an annual thing or is it all year lol? I don't know all that much about NYC shopping, I've never been for a long period of time, we usually go for a couple nights.

Re: Back from NYC
Oh, I'm so jealous! I love NYC. Congrats on your new purchases! C21 was quite mad when I was there, but not too bad cause it was a freezing cold day. Need a bit of time to sieve through the stuff. I got a pair of Dries Van Noten shoes from there.
