Nashville - I know what you meant and yes I have seen situations like that before. I was friends with someone in highschool. After we graduated, he moved into an apartment from his parents nice, clean house (I know, I saw it). I hadn't seen him in awhile, but one day he invited me over. I went there and the place was atrocious. Garbage piled up everywhere in the kitchen and roaches crawling around in plain sight (that means there are ALOT). And the toilet looked more brown than white, I can safely say that much!

But usually he just comes home after work and passes out in the recliner. He says that its okay for him to do that because his job is much more physically demanding than my job. That may be true, but that doesn't mean I don't want to relax when I'm at home.
Oh, no. That would never happen here. My husband works 20 hour days at times and still does the dishes or takes out the garbage when he comes home.

    Cool Re: Am I lazy?

OMG. Have you seen that show on Discovery, "Verminators"? It is beyond me, inconceivable, how some people live amidst hardcore roach infestations--thousands of them crawling on walls, every piece of furniture, drawers, kitchen utensils, floors, applicances, clothes, bathrooms, the phones!, the beds!, the toothbrushes!!! It's insanity in a way I can't comprehend.

Maevey - Nope, he sits his butt down in the chair the second he gets home. Then I have to get him something to drink and bring him his food (that he doesn't like half the time anyway). So do you think I would be more motivated if he showed a better example? We could always clean together you know, but I don't think that would ever happen.

Being in the business we are in, my techs have taken some pretty fantastic pictures of people's homes. Before seeing these, I couldn't even fathom that people really lived like that.
My dh tells the story about a house he went into that was wall to wall roaches, they were literally raining down on him. They had piles of magazines and newspapers everywhere. And there was animal feces all over the floors. After he showed my pictures, I called social services. It was an elderly couple and they seriously needed help.

I can see where your hubby is coming from though. It's hard to clean all by yourself. My bf rarely helps out with cleaning. I am usually the one who sweeps, straightens up the room, makes the bed, ect. I do his laundry some days. It can get old.

I have ants on my kitchen window sill right now and am going batty. I can't even imagine having them run amuck.

Hhhhmmm..... I think I would go on a strike and not do anything. Call Dr. Laura. She'll know what to do. She's tough but really has awesome advice.

I don't think you're lazy at all, even if his job is more physically exhausting, studying and working is physically and intellectually exhausting and you deserve your relax time...

You need a bit of equality in a relationship I reckon, I do most of the cleaning in the house, but with a baby in tow and one on my tummy it's pretty tiring, so my DH offers to vacuum and mop the floors on the weekend, or clean the bath and shower... because he's just so tired on the weekdays. We do half half and it works out fine. I cook for him most days and he cooks some.. you guys should give and take... he shouldn't just take and take... sorry hon, just an opinion

^^^ Well see, that's what I think. But he doesn't see it that way. Perhaps things would be different if he wasn't having such a bad time at work. He's been so overly grumpy lately and I think its because he doesn't like the way he's being treated at work. Yesterday, it was thundering, lightening, and pouring down rain. And he couldn't stop working for the day even though it was like 5:00 anyway. So he came home soaked to the bone at about 6:30.

I don't think you are lazy bRs. I just think you have a lot going on that keeps you busy. As far as TBF everyone has to have a little "me" time, right?
Don't worry about it just ask him if he can help you a little bit with the household chores.

I HATE cleaning house but I can not go to bed with a dirty dish in the sink or if the pillows on the couch are not where they should be. Maybe I am a little OCD??

I'm the same I hate dishes in the sink... and bRs... I think you should talk to him about it when he is less grumpy... fair enough he's having a rough time at work... but you can't have a rough time just because he is having one... I usually wait for a better day to talk to my DH about serious things and that usually works...

I don't mind a dirty dish in the sink. Just as long as its not covered in something gross. But a "clean" dirty dish doesn't bother me. LOL! I'm not really a clean freak, I must have gotten that from my mom. If my husband comes home and throws something on the floor, I'll let it sit there. I don't obsess over every nook and cranny of the bathroom. As long as it isn't anything gross, I really don't worry all that much about it. I do know some people that can over obsess with cleaning stuff. My sister-in-law's mother will be on her hands and knees for hours cleaning the tile grout with a Q-tip. A Q-tip for crying out loud! Who does that?! But anyways, I guess I can see why my husband is a bit annoyed because his mom likes to clean and she likes to cook. Then again... he knew how I was when he married me. It wasn't like we hadn't lived together prior to the wedding, so there shouldn't have been any surprises.
