    Default Dont buy a Chihuahua

my stepkid has this stupid chihuahua and well sine the kid is away visiting family, this dog has been troubling me and dh... Now, it won't do number two outside ... It does it inside ... So now its barking and just pissed off... It bit me, snapped at dh ... I have an appt at the vet to see if I can get animal antidepressants or something...

I hate that dog... They should have got the kid a schnauzer or some other type of real dog... Not a glorified rodent...

I consider myself a dog person too... This one is just inbred or something

You can get Rescue Remedy at any upscale grovery store or health store. I would put that in his/her water. Also, animals can sense when you don't like them. It creates a lot of tension. The dog is probably feeling really lonely and insecure.
    Good luck.

Chihuahuas are different from a lot other dogs (not saying all other dogs). They tend to get attached to only one person and then they feel really insecure if they are separated from them. We have a dachshund and she's gets VERY upset if we are not with her 24/7. She's 10 years old and still gets into the trash if we its within her reach when she's left home alone. I think Maevey's right, you can get stuff at the store to put in their water. And don't worry about the poop in the house, they have tiny little poos (easy to clean up). LOL!

I have a chihuahua (not a rodent) and I totally dissagree with your post. The dog is probably having anxiety since it's real owner is gone.

^^^ Yep, its probably really sad. Like I said, those little dogs especially can get REALLY attached to their owners.

weiner dogs are the best... My parents have one and she's 15... I guess that might be part of it too... My dislike for this rat dog... I like little girl dogs and this is a boy and they didn't get it fixed... And his thing is as big as half his body and its so gross... You can't even pet his tummy...

My hubby seems to think there must be a girl dog in heat in our complex because all the stupid thing does is sniff around outside... I was out with it for 25 minutes and then took it in and told hubby... The kid is yours and the dog is your kids dog so if it doesn't poo in 15 minutes its your prob.

I got down my Labrador sized cage I had for my dog before I had to give her to my mom because we couldnt have two dogs and my husband wouldnt make the kid get rid of rodent dog... And so the dog is in the lab pen since he won't poop and its not sanitary to let animals poop inside...its not mean for him... He only weighs 3 pounds and his baby, blanket, water, all fit plus I have paper down in the back for him to go on... But plain newsprint so if he tries to eat or sshres it it shouldn't hurt him...

At least my dog was smart enough to go on the linoleum... Where I could scrub the floor with bleach water to sanitize... This one does it under the tanning bed where its real hard to get to...

And brs... Its runny... So its not like picking up little raabit sized poopplets...

My chihuahua had a problem with going in the house, but he's gotten better and they are very clngy dogs, but mine just loves anyone that looks at him, except my boyfriend who he is scared of, lol.

Nashville - I would imagine that the runniness is due to the dog being upset (either that or he ate something he wasn't supposed to). I suppose that would be a little more of a pain to clean up. Have you tried putting something in with the dog that has his owner's scent on it? That might help.

Yes, if Chihuahua's get stressed, their "business" can be runny.

The runniness is prob my fault because I felt bad for him and gave him a tater tot from Sonic. He stays in the stepkids room, which is drenched in the kids smell...plus I gave the dog a sock from the drawer.

If we can make it two more weeks, it should be good.

    Nash,
He's runny because he is nervous and his tummy is reacting.
Personally, I'd take the dog in on Monday and get his fixed. That will cut down on a lot of the issues and it's a super fast and easy procedure. It's silly that he isn't fixed. It would be a good $100 spent and the kid would never even know.

I wanted to do this since I joined the family... I wanted the jewels removed because the poor dogs back legs just dont look comfy...

They were going to originally breed him every year to pay his vet costs but he had some sort of chihuahua mange and you can't breed him...

But hubby still says no and so its now his prob. I am on dog strike.

^You should MAKE him get fixed. They can get cancer there just like humans can.
