Default Men can never understand a bag addiction

    Hey ladies,

I just thought I'd get your opinion on this topic... do you reckon it's true?

My husband always tells me that you can only carry one bag at a time, so why bother getting tons? And I say to him, "You love horses and sports, I love bags" and he still doesn't understand... but he gets me what I want anyway as a sort of "reward" for staying home and taking care of our bub.

Want your thoughts on this ladeeeeeeeez.

True. I have yet to run across a man who understands.

My husband just rolls his eyes if he walks by the computer and I'm looking at bags, or if I go straight to the bag department. I tell him he has his habits....and dollar for dollar, I spend less than he does if he figures up the price of skoal a can....and golfing twice a week!! Sooooooo.....I tell him...listen bud...I actually spend a whole lot less than you, even though I may fork out 300 to 400 bucks at a time for a bag.....i've saved and put back for that bag too, I even find myself trying to save on things like our food bill when I've got a new bag in my sights......I'm terrible aren't I?? :-(

My boyfriend is open to my bag addiction... he sometimes tells me to spend on something else, but he has his favorites (of my bags)... He's given me $$$ to buy some of the bags I have too... But he would rather buy me jewelry over a bag, any day. He loves computers ( and I do too)... so, we're pretty open minded to each other's obsessions... He can even spot real and fake LV's!!! lol... No Joke!

Oh... and he LOVES namebrand clothes and shoes... so that's cool for me...

^ that's great that you guys are open to each others interests. haha, i need to train my bf to spot a fake LV, LOL!

my bf actually isn't that bad. he knows how much purses make me happy and he is pretty supportive. he's gotten much better with understanding my addiction. i mean, he has told me a few times that i should save my money for more important things, but it was only because he was trying to help me, so i didn't take that in a negative way.

but i can definitely see how some men don't understand. my dad is one example...which is why i didn't tell him about the last big purchase i made...

lol that's so cute, my hubby gives me $$$ as well to buy bags but all the same says i should spend it on something else.... :)

he's always skeptical of stuff in ebay so he goes, that must be fake and i explain to him why its not fake and that the ladies from tBF are helping me authenticate

    This is a great thread!!

My DH is pretty understanding about the whole bag addiction thing, heck he even has a LV case for his iPod. (of course I talked him into it.)
Whenever we go somewhere he will say, "I counted 5 fake LV's and 3 "Goach" bags", or sometimes he might say "did you spot the fake Louis?" My son is even better at spotting the fakes, Love him! My daughter loves bags as well so we do share quite a bit.
I think the reason my DH is so understanding is because he knows how happy it makes me to get a new bag. Although I didn't want to push it last week when I got 3 bags in less than a week. So, the third one was bought when he wasn't with me. Yes, he has seen the bag (MbMJ Teri) and he thinks it is UGLY. LOL! Everyone has to have a hobby, right? I guess bags are mine...

So in the end I think it all works out he buys things he likes (buying things to build his "rat rod" car) and I support him, and I buy things I like and he supports me.
    (I think!)

I was watching SATC last night and it was in Season 4 where Aidan and Carrie break it off and Aidan gives her 30 days to either purchase her apartment or move and she's sitting somewhere with Miranda asking herself (and Miranda) where all her money went. Miranda then points out that each pair of shoes are $400 and asks Carrie how many she has...Carrie admits to having 100 pairs (which probably means she has more like 2-300 pairs haha) and said "but that's only $4,000" and Miranda so lovingly points out..."no...that's more like $40,000"

Makes me think...if I got 100 bags, and they were all vuitton...that would be like $100,000 worth of bags. That is crazy. Unless I was a millionaire, that would be silly.

After that episode, my husband so lovingly told me that my collection was currently worth around $3,000 and after birthday and Christmas will be more like $4,500 ... and it's only been a year. Then, he got out my financial calculator (I am a nerd, remember?) and calculated how much I would have if I invested $4,500 a year (in equal monthly installments) for 30 years at 12% interest (which is an estimate of the average market rate) ... **sigh** I'd have over a million dollars.

Little luxuries here and there really add up!

But, he said that if the purses make me happy, it makes him happy.

Haha, when my bf and I are out and I see a fake bag...I'll tell him and he'll say "You should say something". Lol, I wouldn't say something though!

Haha my boyfriend does this too!!

He's in NYC doing an internship for the summer and the other day when I talked to him after he got home from Soho/Lower East Side he said "There are so many people walking around with fake bags. I saw like 5 on the subway just where I was standing."

I asked him if I ruined him because I taught him how to spot them, and he said no, he just thinks it's funny now.
