My Mother is the same exact way, Maevey. She will spoil all of us but not herself.

I'm not going to be visiting my grandma for Mother's Day... no card either. Sorry to say, but she dug her own grave so now she can sit in it. Plus I hate her husband... that guy can just go to hell.

Oops... sorry, didn't mean to sound all pissed off there.

    Awww...bRs...families are a funny thing.

My grandpa died three days after Christmas, after this huge fight that my dad and husband got into (verbal, not physical) - and I never really called them much (grandma and grandpa) because I felt like they liked my brother better anyways. Now, I regret it and I carry his funeral announcement that my mom had laminated that has a pic of him from when he was like...30...around in my purse (as long as it fits - it doesn't fit in my coach patchwork pouch) and I get sad. Soo...while every situation is different and we can't judged based on what we read, I am saying from one tbf member to another, don't do something you will regret when she is gone.

You're sweet Nashville, but its not like she was ever my grandma to begin with anyways. She disowned my brother and I from the minute we were born because she was angry with my dad (looooooong story that involves him giving up his other 2 children). So anyway, she tries later on down the road after her 2nd husband died to reach out to us. But my brother and I still have not forgiven her. She remarried again and this guy is a total jerk. He took my dad's retirement money that was in my grandma's savings account and spent it. And no... my dad doesn't have any legal repercussions. They talked to a lawyer and there is nothing they can do since my grandma's husband is power of attorney and my grandma's name was on the account.

Okay... this is turning into a negative thread! LOL! I shouldn't have said anything!

^^^ LOL! Nah, I doubt she would notice anyway. What bothers me is that my dad somehow feels obligated to go visit her now (she's in a nursing home). Quite frankly, I don't feel he owes her anything. But I guess that's his decision.

So anyway, I picked up my mom's ceramic plaque thingie today. I really think she's going to like it. I still think a plant would be good for my mother-in-law. She's more practical like that.

I have been blessed beyond words for having the Grandma I had, My Mother's Mother, she was a true angel in my Family's lives. Now my Father's Mother is another story. Honesly, I forget she even exsists. That was her doing though. I respect her, that was the way I was raised, I won't be nasty but I don't call/talk to her at all, long story. Now, I am enemies with my Mother's Sister, she doesn't deserve the title Aunt, and as bad as it sounds if I could run her over with my car and know I will still have a chance at going to Heaven I will. I only feel like that about her, overall I'm a Sweetheart, I know it doesn't seem that way, lol.

My moms family is from WV and thats where I lived for several years before I moved away at 19. The best part about Mothers Day, Easter, etc. is realizing how much different people are down there as opposed to ordering from ProFlowers or whatever. I saw what I wanted to send my Grandma on PF, but it was an extra $15 for delivery on S-S or $10 extra for Fri before, Monday after. I figured it was worth it because my Grandma rocks, so I called the PO for her house number (for YEARS the rural town she lives in was General Delivery) and the sweet lady not only knew her but remembered me as a kid, asked about my mom and my brother, then suggested I just go to Bessies, a place everyone in the area uses. Ive used them before and they rock, but would they be able to get an orchid on such short notice? They could, they did, they gave me the PF price even though it would have cost twice as much, AND they only charge $5 for delivery flat fee every day including Sundays and Holidays.

You have to love that southern hospitality!

Oh, and its a single stem pink orchid planted in a teacup sitting on a matching saucer.

And my mom got a Sbux gift card, because she has my 4 yr old brother, a 20 yr old brother in college planning a wedding, and myself to deal with - she can use the caffeine.

you might not understand dad, but a mom is a mom and sometimes that bond is always there even if she was like the worlds worst...

On the bright side... U can see your mom on mothers day... Mine used to come down to see me but then my brother had kids and now she baby sits full time so my sister in law can work...

Soo... I buy her things that I know my brother can't afford because I know she will go on and on and on about the gift...

Evil, maybe... But that's just part of the sick and twisted sibling rivalry my brother and I have... We are 10 years apart so we are like two very spoiled only children that haven't ever gotten along...
