Idea EARTH DAY 2008

Happy Earth Day to everyone here at TBF!

What do you do to make our Earth a better, greener place to live?
Share some of your green habits with the other members for some great ideas!

I take my reusable shopping bags to the market and refuse plastic bags everywhere I shop.
I also compost everything that I can, use a rain barrel, and grow an organic garden, just to name a few.

Happy Earth Day! Yep, there's a huge thing going on at school tonight... but I have SO much homework... I won't be going.

I love those energy efficient bulbs... but I had no clue that they contained mercury. LOL! So my whole house is full of them now, so now what do I do?!

Lol, I use the fluorescent bulbs too. It took me a while to get used to them though.

I've been wanting to get reusable bags! I should really get to it...

Try earth911.org or lamprecycle.org to find out about recycling and disposal. Do you have an IKEA? (They have a CFL take-back program)
You can always seal a CFL bulb in a couple of zip locks as a last resort. Those bulbs last forever! I had one in our laundry room, that burned out last week, for 9 years!! I was impressed.

that is CRAZY! I now have those bulbs in the laundry room as well to replace the 'typical' bulb and those old bulbs always tended to be the first to go, I'd always run down with hands full to pull the switch and have the light burn out, good to know the new one should last a while

speaking of earth day, i miss those old earth t-shirt pamphlets you'd get like a month in advance and buy to wear for earth day, I want one, I saw a bunch of t-shirt table things set up on campus today, but i don't think they are earth day related.
