Is Jogging, or Walking better than Running on a tread mill??! I usually run in sections... ex: 30 minute treadmill... run at 5 mph... I run 5 sets of 4 minutes.. and walk every 2 minutes in between... omg... that kills me....
So should I start power walking o jogging instead? Or stick to what i'm doing.. (or was doing... )
Will walking... jogging.. or running for the same amount of time show you the same results??!

Re: Weight Loss Journal
I have temporary housing issues that make buying an eliptical or treadmill not possibe... However the apt complex has a gym but its dirty and gross. We have a bowflex for hubby and I know it would help me but to slim down I need cardio
I used to do it all but I stopped when I got in a wreck and hurt my back ... Guess Ill just have to find that hour per day then reward myself with purses for a job well done

Re: Weight Loss Journal
Viva- Just as long as you keep your heart rate up consistently while working out whether it be speed walking or jogging doesnt really matter. If you're just starting out then you can just speed walk ..then when it gets too easy....then you can start jogging slowly. KEEP CHALLENGING YOURSELF!
NashvilleD- You dont need any machines to get your cradio in!! Just put on some good running sneakers and just go jogging in the streets or at a park!!

LOL...have you ever been to Memphis, TN?? You need a machine if you have to work out after dark.
Sometimes my husband and I go to the mall and walk around for an hour or so, do a lap go up the stairs do a lap upstairs go back down and just go like that. If its light outside then we walk around the neighborhood. If we have to go to the drug store or pick up something quick from the supermarket, we walk there too. Thankfully, when I have to go out of town usually I stay at a Mariott or Hilton and they have some good workout rooms.
We had an awesome workout room when we lived in a house, but now I have a good job but that will move me in the next couple of years, so we stay in an apt and still have to travel back and forth a lot between the major cities in the area. I also sold our equiptment instead of putting all of it in storage...If only I could stay in Nashville primarily I would be fine...but the pay is better if you stay in Memphis bc no one wants to live there...

Re: Weight Loss Journal
::sigh:: I was good today... I had a sandwich for lunch and a Healthy Choice frozen dinner for dinner. Then I got home from work (a little after 9pm) and my husband wanted Arby's. He's sick so I went to go through the drive to get him something... well, sitting outside I could smell the mozzarella sticks. Oh man! You can probably guess what happened.

Re: Weight Loss Journal
I had a cheeseburger for lunch today. But I did better for dinner... I had roasted turkey from Boston Market with steamed veggies and corn.

Re: Weight Loss Journal
^^^ LOL! Well, you try living with someone that sits there and eats an entire baked pasta from DaVincis and 4 pieces of cheese bread for lunch. All of this because he was sick! UGH!
Trust me... it is very hard to make wise food choices when the people around you are not doing the same thing.

I was good yesterday. I had eggs and bacon for breakfast, a banana and soy milk smoothie for lunch and a chicken (grilled) salad for dinner. I also ran/walked 2 miles and then did an hour on the eliptical.
I felt good when I put on my jeans last night so I know something is working.

I'm eager to lose weight, but I don't think I will start posting much in this thread until I'm done finals..
But I did shovel the snow yesterday.. I was sweating so much that I had to shovel in a T-shirt!! There was 10-15 centimetres of snow... in APRIL!! But I guess I live in Calgary..

LOL! Well just yesterday they got 13 inches of snow just a little bit north of where I am. Hmm... what's that in centimeters? Like 32? LOL! Lucky me, we got nothing but rain here.
