Fast Food.. tisk tisk.... try to go for a fast food salad next time.. or something with grilled chicken.

Awesome on the tred mill.. never run on a tred mill... notice all the bouncing up and down a tredmill does? Running on a tred mill.. can ruin your knees.. and mess up your joints really bad. Also... can mess up your back. Running = bad on tred mills.. go for walking fast... never run... always run on a flat service that doesn't move.. like the street! LOL

Marissa - I'm not really big on salads as a meal. They had a grilled chicken sandwich there but it had just as many calories as the kids meal did (according to their nutrition guide). LOL! Sorry, I just couldn't resist the urge. I was on my way home, starving of course, and I realized I didn't have anything at home to eat. Oh well, it could have been a lot worse!

Salads do have the same calories as kids meals sometimes.. but they aren't greasy. The fried food stores more fat, as a salad doesn't. Anything green helps the digestive tract digest. Salad is one food you should have before any big meal. Because if that meal is super fatty.. the salad helps it digest better and not cause you to gain as much weight. Anything green (as in fruits, or veggies) help you go to the bathroom real quick.. lol... not to sound gross.. but its true. Something in the pigment, helps humans digest.

Ever see a sick animal eat grass??? It's because the green in the grass.. helps them digest better and make their stomachs feel better.

Ultimately.. yes salad can have a lot of fat in them sometimes.. but chances are it won't make you gain weight because the salad digest's really quick.

i've heard it's even better that you don't run on a treadmill or any hard surface b/c of all the bouncing which loosens collagen which also leads to sagging!

It's fine to run on cement... as long as there is no bouncing from the surface itself

about the running on the treamill thing -- I've never heard that before! My back and knees feel fine and I usually run on the treadmill for an hour a day (incline "Random" @ speed 6.8). I mean anyone can develop back or knee or any other injury when it comes to running... you just do not want to bounce when you run (treadmill or on the street) and be sure to have good running shoes.

^^^ Running can cause a lot of injuries. I remember watching this show on PBS about this marathon team that was created out of non-marathon-y people. Two of the people had to drop out because they had tiny fractures that developed in their shins.

I agree, it could. That's why it's always important to start out slow in the beginning and know your body... like when you feel any pain, definitely slow down or stop. Like running too much / over-training in a short period of time is a really bad idea. What was pbs thinking?

I started running when I was 9 and ran half-marathons + a couple marathons all throughout highschool.. however I did have a problem with shinesplits which eventually turned into stress fractures (3 times). Also I broke my metatarsal during a race once which never heeled properly -- now it hurts like mad if I wear heels over 3". I've learned my lesson since. lol. When it hurts. Stop.

To me, and in all my health books.. the best way to exercise is to toss up your routine. Your body gets use to working out one way... and it's harder to see improvements. Sometimes I run outside, Sometimes I walk super fast, Sometimes I walk with 3 lb weights in each hand, if its raining I'll walk at 4.5 on my tredmill.... it just totally depends on you. I feel when I workout in a gym.. I don't get the results I want.. as if I'm working out... outside. I live in FL.. so I sweat a ton if I workout outside. It just totally depends on you... as long as you are getting cardio 1 hour a day... you will see improvements.

I have never heard of that before. Weird? I guess it could be true for some people. Some runners... I do see them with sagging right at the knees. But some people that run are so perfectly toned it's nuts. I guess it just depends on the body. Maybe you need to tone up and run too. Maybe the people that sag... don't tone at all???

Alright, I went on the treadmill again today for 45-50 minutes. I had a turkey sandwich on whole wheat and some Sun Chips for lunch. And for dinner, I had some chicken and some pasta.

I think I read about the sagging in a magazine.. and i think it was overall body sagging but I have no idea.. makes sense though (bouncing..collagen breakdown..sagging). And I agree, it's good to change up the routine.. i'm not a huge outside person (which is terrible, i live in california!) just because i get dark.. lol.. but at the gym i usually bike, or use the eliptical, then the stair stepper, or walk on incline on the treadmill (i hate running).. ANND i love taking the classes at the gym, Step and Hip hop are my favies!

And today... I had eggs and rice for breakfast (weird, i know).. a slim fast for lunch.. worked out for 1.5 hours.. then had tombstone pizza for dinner..oh and a fiber one bar! those things are delicious, espcially the cereals, and you get your necessary fiber intake for the day (28 grams!)

I just read what i wrote and I need more fruits and veggies.. tsk tsk me.
