Re: Designer Items You Value: Handbags vs Apparel vs Shoes
Well Alicia,
I love brand names, hate the prices. I LOVE stores like Marshalls and TJ Max or Target because they have cute items for less so I feel like I can get more. Here is my philosophy, I can get more wear out of shoes and bags than I can out of clothes. I can wear a shoe 3 or 4 times a week or use a bag even more and I have definitley had my moneys worth. But I can do that if I spent sixty bucks on an outfit. Accessories rule the world! An outfit is just an outfit until you add the shoes and the bag
Now there are places to go where I know I cant wear Target shoes and sundress with a chanel bag so on those occasions I need designer jeans, shirt, shoes and bag...and because I have sliced the budget on practical clothes and budget spending I am allowed to splurge on the pricer items when the time comes.
I am in the bad habit of buying the shoes and the matching handbag and the clothes in the middle dont matter, as long as they are cute.

Jewelry is whatever because i always borrow from my mom. LOL.
She's crazy when it comes to jewelry, she'll spend like 1k+ on a pair of earrings..
I don't mind though, cause i get to wear them too lol.

if i have a lot of money, i would totally spend more on a bag, i don't care too much w/ clothes as long as it's a good price and materials and comfy, i'll buy it. but yup, if i'd choose more on bags than shoes and clothes

Re: Designer Items You Value: Handbags vs Apparel vs Shoes
I will def. spend big time $$$$ on handbags... no doubt about it!!!
Shoes... I must like em' to spend a lot... other than that... I buy Coach, Deisel, BCBG, ALDO, Guess Shoes... nothing over the top, expensive!!! (like bags... )
As for clothing... I shop at Dillards, Express, JoeBrand ($$ Dept. store) & Banana Republic... I like Target as well... I will buy a couple of things there, every once in a while...
But I definitely spend more $$$ on bags... not so much shoes and clothing... unless I LOVE the way something looks on me, then i'll spend big bucks!!!
Jewerly: I love diamonds... I own a couple of white gold & diamond pieces...

Re: Designer Items You Value: Handbags vs Apparel vs Shoes
I do LOVE handbags and shoes, but I'm sorta obsessed with buying clothes. I guess it's because styles and trends are always changing, but with bags and shoes they can last longer - more seasons.
I buy handbags every so often -- it's hard for me to retire one if im absolutely in love, ya know? Usually I spend no more than $1500 (although i have a few that cost more)
Shoes, I love. But of course handbags beat out shoes in my book. I don't really spend more than $300 a pair -- Mostly in my closet you will find MK, coach, cole haan, bcbg, ferragamo, and jessica simpson
When it comes to clothes I wear anything from Banana Republic & Club Monaco to Vivienne Westwood, McQueen, Armani Collezioni, etc. Jeans of course are important, i stick to my joe's, marc's and sevens. But when it comes to tops and dresses, sometimes I go a little crazy -- usually don't spend more than $800

Jess - which brand(s) do you buy from PacSun? I need to find some good jeans!

I don't wear a lot of jewelry. And I only like silver or white gold. Gold it a litle too flashy for me. I never spend a lot though. I mean, things from Claires or the Icing are more than good enough for me. I never even think about spending money on designer jewelry. The only thing that I wont wear cheap though are rings, but even they are not designer.
Overall, I am a designer bag and jean girl!

Thanks! I spend most money on White Gold, diamonds and precious stones. I am not a yellow Gold or Silver fan. Yellow is to loud for me. There is just one I like that was one of my wedding set, but that has more white and stones in it than yellow. And ofcourse I have a lot of Pakistani Style Jewellery too. I have a mix of Pakistani, Bahraini and Western of everything in my collection!

Re: Designer Items You Value: Handbags vs Apparel vs Shoes
I don't worry so much about clothes and shoes as I do handbags. LOL! I don't like to buy CHEAP cheap clothes though, because they tend to fall apart. So I do buy brand name stuff and try to get stuff on sale or get stuff from where I work. Shoes... well, shoes are hard for me because I have to stand for long periods of time. They HAVE to be comfortable, otherwise I won't buy them. I know, I know, so many cute shoes out there... but believe me, they are painful!

Re: Designer Items You Value: Handbags vs Apparel vs Shoes
I don't like buying too many expensive clothing because my weight fluctuates and I don't want to spend $500 on an outfit, only to get fat or lose weight and not be able to wear it.
I love handbags because I can keep them in pristine condition just by being careful. Shoes are too volitile and I have stepped on cracks in sidewalks and killed the leather on my heels before.
Of course, I got in a wreck in January and cannot wear heels **eek** because when I do my lower back swells up really bad and my hand starts going numb...going to an orthopedic something or other to see if I can get it straightened out without surgury.
Alicia - I have bought a few items at Wal Mart and for the price the quality is pretty good. I haven't had any problems with the clothes I have gotten there. As for Target, they rock...and JC Penny's is okay too.
I LOVE Macy's when I can find a good sale - but I try to get my mom to buy me nice clothes from there because I hate dropping serious cash on clothes.
If I saved, and the bag was really special...my limit would be around $3,000 - but I have yet to purchase a bag that expensive.
