Default I had mail delivery...

So I bought my boyfriend this awesome thing for V-day and because the idiot seller sent it Express Mail - I had to be at home to sign for it. After the first delivery attempt, I left a message on the door yesterday explaining that it was a V-day gift. The mail man was VERY nice but wrote a little note back saying he just wasn't allowed to. So I think I'll be able to pick it up at the post office tomorrow. ugh.

And then my ShopBop order was sent UPS. Well I was so excited to come home and try on the new dresses but when I got home - nadda! So I just checked this morning and they said they had dropped it off at my FRONT DOOR at 7:05pm last night. Well, we were home at 7:05pm and heard/received nothing. We left the house at 7:10pm to get our 7:30pm dinner reservation.

Now I'm worried my Active Endeavors package (which is arriving today) will meet the same fate. I called my downstairs neighbors to see if they might have instead signed for the package and kept it in their place till they saw us...but why didn't they just leave it at our interior apartment door? I haven't heard back from them.

FRUSTRATING!!!

One of the things I hated about living in an apartment. My next door neighbor used to take all of my packages. I'd have to go to the landlord about it every time. I would eventually get the item, but it would be opened and sometimes used.

I tend to attract weirdos. Have my whole life.... (just look at my ex husband - weirdo and pyscho all mixed into one Pee Wee Herman package)
Quick story...when I bought my first house I came out of the shower to find my (female) next door neighbor, sitting on my couch and drinking one of my coveted vanilla Dr.Peppers. And no, I had not invited her in.
She was a little slow though and a vapid complainer. She could sit there and talk for hours about everything that was wrong with the world. She still lived at home with her parents and I believe she was in her 40's. And never married... go figure.
Several years after her "warm" welcome, she wrote a song about my to-be (and current of 9 years) husband and sang it for us. It talked about him cheating on me and leaving me for dead, after taking all my cats with him so I would be alone and miserable if I made it out of surgery. She was a fun nieghbor.
Now we just have the "religious" couple next door who likes to tell my children to shut the F%^k up when they are outside playing and get too loud for his taste.
Oh the stories I could tell about the places I have lived... And I swear I am quite normal... really...

Living in Texas, and going to church ourselves (yet we aactually practice our faith, we don't preach it - BIG difference), we get screwed over by so many "Christians". Whether it be churches that feel our company should be doing things for free, or just simply scamming, complaining folk. I am stunned almost daily about the lengths that some people will go to not have to pay a $250 bill.

If your neighbors actually received your packages and opened and used them, wouldn't that be called theft? Isn't that like a federal offense?

Yes it is. Now try getting the Brooklyn Heights cops out there to take a statement, much less press charges.
These are the same cops who took over an hour to get to my apartment (station is less than 6 blocks away) when a homeless man decided that I was his New Years Eve date and smashed in my window and then urinated all over it. Thankfully I had bars on the windows. When the cops finally did arrive, and "my boyfriend" was perched outside my window, serenading me with love songs, they told him to "move along" and laughed. When I called 911 again to get them to come back so I could file a report (because there was NO WAY I was going to unlock my door and go after them with the crazy guy still there), they came back (about 20 minutes later) and told me that he was harmless and that shouldn't "a pretty girl like myself be out partying and not antagonizing a sex deprived homeless man?"
And no, I'm not kidding.
The homeless guy was finally run off by a drunk male friend and a baseball bat. I slept for 2 weeks with a butcher knife under my pillow and then moved to a higher level apartment. Which was really too bad because I liked my brownstone garden apartment.

And I won't even go into the encounter I had with the Studio City cops when a similiar incident happened (only thing they wanted this time was my car though).

Wow... And I thought only SE Asia had problems with cops. Thing is, the cops usually initiate the crimes here from where I live.

It isn't like that everywhere. We live in a small "town" now and the cops are awesome. They will be at your doorstep within 5 minutes and they mean business.
I think in bigger cities they are underpaid and overworked. Except in Studio City. That was just a matter that because I wasn't a celeb they didn't want to have to do paperwork.

A few of my family members are NYC cops. I can tell you for sure they are under paid and treated like CRAP. they are also forced to write ridiculous tickets just to make the city money and if they DON'T write those tickets - their boss will make them take the graveyard shift hours or send them to another location where the commute to work is an hour long instead of the 15 minutes they used to have.

it's not good.

I agree, it isn't. But it also isn't good when they ignore and belittle a frightened 21 year old who is being stalked by a homeless guy who has nothing to lose. And the broken window was quite obvious. As was his slurred speech about how he was going to show his girlfriend a thing or two.
Obviously there are good cops and bad cops. Unfortunately I just ran into the bad ones that night.

^^^Oh that stinks. Sorry to hear that and I feel your pain. But yeah, not that I'm a trouble maker or anything but like most of the cops I've come across (speeding ticekts, reporting criminal activity, etc.) have been nasty. It's almost like they enjoy giving us those unnecessary tickets or are too lazy to take action from the way their mannerism is, in my experience anyways...

We have one cop in our town that is nice, but that's about it...

We live in an "incorporated" town right now. If you even go 1 mile over the speed limit, they will ticket you. No kidding. You see teenagers on the side of the road daily and constantly.

^ Well that's better than cops abusing their right of way in streets and such.
