Default Designer stuff you don't "get."

I don't "get" a lot of designer accessories. Like LV bracelets that consist of a a leather strap for $300, and Christian Dior bracelets that are a piece of plastic with "Dior" in rhinestones. And I especially don't get the LV hair cube.

Authentic LOUIS VUITTON hair Cube - (eBay item 110174060474 end time Oct-02-07 08:00:00 PDT)

Who would pay $70 plus $30 shipping for this? I wouldn't pay ten dollars for it. What possible motivation could anyone have for this besides the perception of status (which is debatable; if I could even see the LV on the cube in someone's hair, all I'd think is "fool.")

Hello I have three of these hair cubes all in different colors. I was lucky enough to be given mine but I do think they are value for money. Louis Vuitton products are very high craftsmanship and I have seen the bracelets being made in the factory in Ducey, France.

Would you have bought them yourself?

As for quality, I'm not sure how important that is in a hair cube, the ponytail holders I've bought at Walmart all have worked just fine, LOL.

Hmm... what about odd things like paper weights, pill cases, contact cases, etc? Or keychains... although I guess that isn't too odd but there are keychains out there that cost $500. That's a lot to pay for something that you could so easily lose.

I feel the same way coach-princess. I think its silly to spend all that money on things like that when you can get a cute key-chain, for example, for a few bucks. Then it doesn't matter if you lose it or not and the money saved there can go towards another bag.

Actually, I shouldn't come down too hard on these accessories, because I'd like to have an LV cover for my Ipod nano, LOL. But I'm not giving elux $245 for it. I can see wanting various small leather goods (e.g., sunglass cases, wallets, whatever). The hair cube just made me shake my head because you can't even SEE it in the hair, for the most part. And how does it truly differ in quality and performance from a regular old ponytail holder?

i like tiffanys key chains!! they are so pretty.

i know sometimes it seems like a waste of money, but if you can afford to spend/waste money like that, then i say go for it! lol. everyone likes nice status things.

i mean, isn't that why we spend $1000s on purses we could easily get at any other department store? technically it "is" just a purse to hold our keys/wallet/etc .... but we all like to spoil ourselves with name brands!! well, i know i do. lol.

Yeah those items, like paper weights, pill cases, etc I would not get just because it had the signature all over it.

But about the LV hair cubes - I LOVE IT .. omg and it only went for $70

I think the LV cubes would break. I use to wear those when I was little and I remember a few times the rubber part snapping on me! But if I had lot of money I'm sure I would buy them in every color.

The inclusion ones are sooooo pretty!!

The 2 things that came to mind are:

The Christian Dior Teddy Bear with CD monogram all over it, and
Louis Vuitton plastic pin sets for about $350 !!!!!
