Unfortunately, I'm leaving tomorrow for PA to go to my aunt's funeral, which is why I'm up at 3:37 a.m. when I should be sleeping. You see, my aunt that died was in her 50's, and her husband died just 6 months ago of a tumor on the brain. The aunt died from a genetic disease that usually takes around 30 years to progress to the terminal stage, but for some reason went from first signs to death in less than 2 years for my aunt - doctors are stumped. They leave behind a single son in his 20s who is devastated about this double loss in addition to now being left with the horrible choice of having himself tested for the genetically transmitted disease and knowing it will kill him (in a timespan anywhere from 2 years to 30 years) but not knowing when it will "kick in" or not getting tested and waiting to see when/if it kicks in. If he gets tested and has the genetics for the disease, he also has to decide if he wants to take the risk of passing it on to any children he might decided to have later... Needless to say, my heart is breaking for him, and I ask for all your prayers for strength for my cousin Scott. Thanks!
