Never going to book a reservation through a resort ever again..
Why? Because then it's not in writing!!!!!
I booked a vacation to Puerto Vallarta by calling this resort directly. I've stayed there before and really liked it. When I called they informed me of a package deal that was for 5 nights free breakfast at $x rate, but to qualify we would have to be married and one of us would have to be over the age of 30. Well.. Daniel turns 30 next week, so we’re good on that. But we’ve lived together for 9+ years, dating 10+. The guy I spoke with said this was okay, even put me on hold and spoke with his manager and they gave us the green light. Also got them to add all-inclusive for an additional $150 a night. Fine and dandy. Ended the call super excited.
Fast forward 3 months later and exactly 3 weeks before we arrive... got a call saying because we’re not married we don’t qualify for this package. I kept explaining that they said it was okay but the person I was speaking with just wasn’t hearing me. So I hung up on her. (turns out she was actually the owner of the agency - ooooooopseeee )
I called The Resort immediately and explained all the above. For an hour and a half I was transferred to different offices (cancun headquarters, their booking agency, the resort, operator, etc).. now I never get emotional but I was all over the place psychotic! One person I was screaming at, the next crying, then calm and collected.. my god, I just felt like I was scammed. So ridiculous, I made my reservations by calling this resort! How can they do this after booking it? And I kept asking to speak to the person who booked my reservation or A manager and they kept saying "no..I can help.... one sec" (put on hold).
Finalllllyyyy, I got a hold of the supervisor (who spoke excellent english) and explained the situation. It was their error. To get the deal we have to be married one of us over the age of 30 OR both over the age of 30 and co-habituating for over 5 years. BTW, what the hell is this package right??? What's with those stupid requirements??? They didn't say it, but I think it's because they added a whole new complex filled with timeshares that they're trying to wh*re out. Yea, not interested.
Anyway, in the end after feeling so beat down from this whole situation I just agreed to 5 nights with breakfast included. Basically taking away our all-inclusive, which I already paid extra for at $150 x 5 nights.
I’m never booking through a resort ever again. Especially in a foreign country. 100% everything online from now on. That way it’s in writing.

Oh my Jennifer, that stinks. Sorry. I think sometimes those places aren't as quick to please the customer as they are here. I had a bad experience with a rent-a-cell-phone thing in Costa Rica. They told me over the phone that I would have reception in X,Y,and Z. Yeah, it was only in X. No service anywhere else I went, but I had to pay for it anyway.
