So do you think these are too much "shoe" for wedding shoes? Since I'm going to be wearing a short dress I want to have fancy shoes.

Hmm... I don't know if it's too much shoe. I'm just not crazy about the color. Is it supposed to be sparkly?

Yeah I think they're semi-sparkly. The heel is mirrored on the back, so that would be shiny.

I'm kind of really in love with these but I think they might be too expensive at $650:

^^^ Those are pretty! Have you looked at Zappos at all? They have a wedding shoe category.

Oh I just thought of something. Where you're getting married might dictate what kind of shoe you buy. I had to find one with a little wider heel (instead of a spike) because we had the ceremony on bricks. I didn't want my heel to get caught in a crack.

So I went to try dresses on on Saturday. My friend and I went to David's Bridal, which honestly was nothing like I expected. I though it was going to be some chain store with kind of cheap looking dresses and all of that. It was actually really nice in there! All of the dresses were out and not in bags, and I picked out four dresses to try on. I picked one and went home to e-mail my parents the dresses and they liked it, so I told my mom to call today and order it for me (that was last night).

And then, I had a mini meltdown. When I was looking at pictures of me in the dresses, I just didn't like it. I was thinking about how I didn't feel excited and all of those feelings you're supposed to feel when you find the dress and you're getting married and all of that. I felt like I was trying to be something I thought I was supposed to be. So I cried, haha, and Matt and I talked and totally talked out how I was feeling.

So, we changed our plans. We're going to talk about exactly what we want to do today, but this is what I think we decided to do. We still want to do the small ceremony (My parents, sister/brother-in-law, Matt's parents, sister/brother-in-law, my grandmother and uncle.) and then afterwards have a dinner at a nice restaurant with just those people, and do it at home in Richmond. Small, simple, and the core of what it's supposed to be. Then a few months later we would have a big party for everyone we would want to invite and make that more fun and family-reunion-ish like a wedding reception kind of is. I think I was trying to make it something more than what it's really about, because that's what I thought it was supposed to be like, the whole ceremony and reception and the dress and all the stuff. Matt and I are always on the same page, and he feels the same way I do. He said he didn't want to have to wait a year to get married just because we're supposed to do all this stuff. I agree. We both said that nothing would change between us if we got married, and nothing would change when we do, so we felt like some people feel differently about getting married to someone because more things would change, like living together, buying a house, getting a dog, and starting their life together. Matt and I have already done that (except buy a house) so we feel like we have accomplished something really great already and we don't need some huge wedding/reception to solidify it.

So, that's that. I'll keep you guys updated on everything, but honestly I feel so much better now and not stressed, and kind of relieved.

Aw, lils, it's okay! Everyone is different when it comes to their wedding and there is nothing wrong with what you've decided to do. I think a lot of the mentality behind the big wedding is that you're only going to do it once. I didn't like the idea of a big formal wedding at first. But then I realized I didn't want to have it at the courthouse or something. So we decided to have a somewhat small wedding (about 75 people showed up) that was outdoors and then we had a nice reception that followed. We did change a lot of things though and not everything was traditional. We did the sand thing during our ceremony and we had a poetry reading. We did things that we liked and that we thought would create great memories for us to look back on. Some people thought we were weird because of some of the things we did. But it was our wedding, not theirs. LOL! So I guess what I am saying is that you need to make sure your wedding is what you want it to be and not what other people think it should be or what "society" tells you it should be.

Hey, we all do things differently. You need to choose what is comfortable for you.
My husband and I ended up spending a weekend in Vegas with 10 people. We got married at the Paris (gorgeous Vera Wang dress that was on the clearance rack at some store and at the chapel there) and then spent Sat and Sun getting massages, eating at the buffets, doing the show route and shopping. Once we got back to LA, we had a party at the house for all of our friends and family. It was catered bar-b-que and jean attire. That's what made US happy.

Aw bRs yours sounds so beautiful!! And Maevey that sounds so awesome to just have what you want, easy and simple!

So Matt and I talked about it and decided to just do it at home in Richmond and simple ceremony/dinner. We set a date of July 16th, because that is our 5 year anniversary. I feel relieved that we decided what we wanted to do, and it's very "us."

And this is something like what I want to wear:
    Theory - Denison Wide-Leg Stretch Cotton Pants - Saks.com

Alexander McQueen - Poplin V-Neck Cap Sleeve Shirt - Saks.com

    Christian Louboutin Bianca Nude Patent

Wow! Talk about a 180! LOL! I like those pants! So you don't want a dress at all anymore? So what would Matt wear then? A suit or just dress pants and a shirt?

Wow...Alex, so you wouldn't want the dress?

I love the idea of white pants and LOVE the shoes....but you know me I love CL shoes.

There is something similar in Glamour Magazine's website and looks AMAZING. Almost a retro feel...but updated!

Love the heels and the pants, but the top looks extremely boyish to me. Nothing feminine about it.....

Oh yeah bRs that top is SO cute!!!

Nope honestly I really don't want a dress. After trying them on and seeing me in them (well, wedding-wise), I just didn't like it. I really really love the idea of white pants, especially in the summer. I'd like to find a high-waisted pair that are flattering.
