    Question european adventure!

so i am planning to go to europe when i graduate in may! i have 6k saved so far and will be saving muchhh more... i want to see London, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Paris, Venice, Rome, and maybe some of Greece. I've been talking to lots of people about their trips to europe but still trying to work out the whole travel details..should i just go with a travel agency (eg contiki) or just try and plan it on my own and see where europe takes me?

Anyone have any suggestions? I'd love to hear how your trip was and how you planned it. Thanks for all your help and opinions!!

I would plan it yourself, it's pretty easy. Are you going with anyone else? It's usually better that way.

Munich, Germany is gorgeous if you get the chance.
If love is the answer, what is the question?

Ooohhh Euro trip!! I did mine during my 3rd year Med school summer hols with DH (at that time BF). My advice would be to go with someone if you can but if you're going alone, it can be fun too. We met a lot of backpacker who were travelling on their own and they had a great time too.

    2. You should budget at least 20% extra as emergency money in case of emergency (duh) or for some splurge that you might want to spend money on (I was in love with some Murano jewellery in Venice but funds had gone to cab back to our camp when the bus went on strike)

    3. To save money, bring some dried food or some of those instant noodles for when you stay at a self catering place so you can cook for yourself. We usually eat our own food for lunch and can spend a bit on a nice place for dinner.

    4. Be careful with your camera, if you're alone, ask another tourist (preferably one in a group) to take your pic. Have heard of locals running off with cameras. Plus it's a great way to make new friends!

    5. Italy in general is chaotic and expensive. Transportation can go on strike at any time so have to be aware of this. The cities however amazing! I old architecture so it was heaven for me.

    6. In Paris, go up top of the Arc de Triomphe. The view up there is in some way even better than up the Eiffel Tower.

    7. Travelling in late summer and early autumn is probably the best as you still get relatively long day to do things yet you can save almost half on all expenses (in high summer, everything double or even triple!) and even worse there are tons of people everywhere! You can spend ages just queuing to get into famous places ie Sistine Chapel, Louvre Museum, Eiffel Tower etc...

BTW how many countries are you planning to do? Of course there are some cities you just HAVE to do and others that are nice to do. I'm so excited for you, I just travelling and seeing new places!

warhols_muse~ I adore Munchen too, sitting having lunch at the fish market and mingling with the locals was one of the high points of my Euro trip. Having non alcoholic beer at the Hofbrau Haus was great too

My fav has to be Nice though, basking in the sun at Cote d'Azur, nothing much can beat that!
