    Smile Share Garden Pics

Anyone who loves gardening, this is a thread just for you... I don't have the greenest thumb in the world but I still enjoy gardening. I also love decorating it too. I'm maintaining a small partially raised garden which includes a variety of roses, bleeding hearts, lilies, boxwoods, dragon's blood, and others. I will post a pic of it this week.

Remember that it doesn't have to be a big garden to count. It can also be a patch along the side of your home, something around your patio, etc. Just something special that you take some pride in maintaining. Can't wait to see and learn from others!

I wish I could garden. My parents have done a great job on our landscaping, but I helped 0%

I'd love to start gardening vegetables, I think it would be fun!

I'm planning on starting an herb garden soon on my balcony. I'll take pictures when I get it started. I'd love to see yours.
If love is the answer, what is the question?

I wish we would have had this thread a month ago. Most of my plants and garden have kind of turned crispy. They were gorgeous a month ago!! LOL!

I will try to remember to take pics tomorrow of mine. Couldn't find on my computer . You just reminded me that I also grow herbs in essentially big window boxes. They have been growing well enough that I haven't needed to run to the supermarket for arugula, chives, curly parsley, basil, cilantro, and apple mint. Unfortunately, the pics of them will not show them in their full glory since I've cut so much for my meal preps. I think I had devastated some of the plants since I may have overcut more than 1/3 of the plants at one time. I think 1/3 is the max. so they can re-grow better. Since it worked so beautifully this Spring/Summer, I will be sure to get more next season. This was the first time I ever did something like this and it was surprising very successful. One word of caution... herbs are very water hungry and need to be in a sunny spot to thrive, but you probably know that already. Hope you have fun!

Do you know what kind of plant that is? Not sure if it's a prob. of amount of sun it's getting, amount of water, or soil quality, or a combo. of these? Not sure if a watering globe/plant nanny would help? Some of them are really pretty. If you know the name of your plant or can show a pic, you can ask your local florist.

My DH bought a cool stocking stuffer for me this past Christmas after my complaints of not being able to successfully grow African violets. It's called "Intelligent Plant Light" by Glentronics. I also have some special plant food for my African Violet. I'm thankful for what little blossoms that are on this plant; better than my previous tries.

You can still post next year or if you have end of Summer/Fall bloomers e.g. sedum, etc.

Sorry, didn't scroll down to see your post. You can always start fresh with another one . Sorry about the previous plant. I've killed many accidentally, including some cactus.

I would love to grow orchids but they are too expensive for me to experiment with. Some people have a natural green thumb. I have to work hard at maintaining everything and there's no guarantee that a plant will do well even with all that TLC I try to give it.

I still haven't got over the death of my Lagerfeld Rose. It was such a gorgeous light purple and so beautifully fragrant. Not sure what happened to it but I suspect japanese beetles might have destroyed the poor thing or a rough winter.

Below are pics of my garden. I guess you can call it an English style garden. It has been a gradual process of building it up over the course of five years. I have a few spots with re-plants but other than that it has been more or less the same plants that I started with. I enjoy maintaining small projects because there's so many other things to dedicate my spare time to. I love perennials a lot (the first year takes the most care, otherwise they reliably return each season). I've been thinking of how I can create a garden that blooms at different times of the growing season since as you can see this time of year is rather sparse for my garden .. I love the peacock sundial I bought this year (thanks to M&D). Have to figure out a good base for it; DH & I temporarily propped it up with blocks. I also added the small pink daisy bird bath garden stake and the dark pink floral solar-powered garden a couple of months ago. Obviously the flower pics were taken during Spring/early Summer. I'm always happy to see the first blooms after the close of Winter.

Sorry the pics of the garden boxes aren't more herbally lush and interesting. They were worse from last night since I needed them to make dinner. I put the marigolds at the center because I was a little self-conscious to be growing herbs this way. I guess there are more people open to the idea of growing herbs in window boxes than I previously believed. I can feel the shudder of the true herbal gardeners as I write this . In any case, since the tiny crops have reaped such wonderful ingredients for me this year, I will surely grow more next year. DH has teased me and said, "are you back from harvesting?"

Hopefully I can get to see other people's garden pics as well...
