When they run your suitcase through the x-ray they will open it if they see anything weird or suspicious.

My aunt used to work for the FAA and has told me many horror stories of stuff they found in suitcases and on passengers (even before September 11, 2001). It sucks when they go through your stuff but they have to make sure the passengers are safe.

Sometimes they put those slips in and a lot of times they don't. I travel a lot and often note that things are not exactly where I put them. NEVER put jewelry or anything valuable in your checked bag. They should NOT have removed your manicure scissors as they couldn't hurt anybody from the cargo bin. Geeze frustrating for sure

The underwire in my bra set off hte stupid metal detector once. I was literally STRIP SEARCHED in the little private booth thing right there. I was like you've got to be kidding me, what do they want me to wear a sports bra every time i travel now?
