    Default Would you lie?

Have you or would you ever hide your bag purchases or lie about the cost to your spouse/significant other?

No. My husband is pretty involved in my purchases because I ask him 50 times a day "which one should I get?".
Poor Jess, I do the same thing to her.

No. Never. I love to get my husband's opinion on anything I purchase.
He is very supportive and helps me pick out what looks better on me

Well I admit, when my husband sees a new bag, sometimes I'll say oh I've had this for a while, it's just been in my closet! Is that horrible? lol. But if he asks me more questions about it, I tell him the truth and stress that it was a good price for it.

You girls are lucky, while my husband says he enjoys being able to buy me nice things, and I would never put my family in financial jeopardy for a bag, he can't understand why I need more than one purse since he says he only needs one wallet.

Typical guy response I think! haha

But he tends to spend more money on electronic things....so our priorities are just different I guess.

Oh no, milwifenjapan, I am in the same boat as you. I'm hiding my newest in my truck at night and I switch purses when I go somewhere. I just haven't figured out how to tell him I bought another one. If I buy something new clothes wise, I hide it in my closet and tell him the same thing you tell your hubby. He says he notices when I have something new he just never says anything. While I'm sure he does notice, I'm also positive he doesn't notice as much as he thinks.

Thankfully, never notices when I buy the matching accessories, I think they all run together and he can't tell them apart from being new. He thought my JC wallet came with the purse (I freakin' wish!), so I got off easy on that one.

He gives me pretty much whatever I want, but draws the line at expensive purses, Hollister, A&F and Uggs, so I just buy them myself.

I think the official term for what I'm committing is "financial infidelity". You ladies are lucky your men are supportive, maybe mine will come around someday too.

I can't lie...I have no job...full time student...DH loves when i get new purses...so if I did get a bag without him being there...i would tell him....but it'd probably hurt his feelings if i ever went to LV without him...i think he likes paying...it makes him feel good...

I involve my boyfriend a lot when deciding to purchase a new bag. I'll ask him what he thinks of this bag, that bag, etc. and then when I've finally made the decision on which to buy, I go on and on and on about how excited I am about it. When I receive it, I always model it for him.

If I were to say that I've had it for awhile and jut never used it, he would know right away I was lying. I've showed him my collection so many times, he knows what purses I do and do not have.

I think I shot myself in the foot by getting him so involved in my bags. LOL.

I don't lie to my husband. That doesn't mean that I tell him about every purchase I make, because he doesn't tell me about every purchase. And I do discuss things with him if I really want something but think it is too expensive (like a LV or Chanel), but I think I do that because then I feel less guilty when he says, "If you love it, get it."
The problem with lying, as I tell my kids, and as I watched growing up becuase my mom did this, is that having secrets from your SO just leads to more and secrecy. You have to remember what you said or didn't say to them, you can't glow in the new purchase and ask them what they think. To me that is all part of it. I want my husband to ooh and aah over what I bought. Just like he wants he to ooh and aah over the new electric screwdriver or work vehicle that he bought.
Best bet, if you have a SO that doesn't believe in spending a lot of money... I would save up until you have enough and then go to them. Tell them that you really want --- and even though they think it is silly, it will make you happy and isn't that what it is all about. Then tell them that this item compares to ---- (whatever they buy that makes them happy). Also, I would be hinting all along that you love whatever it is and would love to have it. This is what I do with my husband. He then knows it's coming.

I have never lied about a purchase, but that's because I usually use my account. But if I were to use our shared then I would usually just do it... but my bf is usually somewhat involved in my purchases.. I send him like 100 pm's before to get his opinion. haha. Unless it's a sample sale -- I pretty much grab everything I can before they sell out -- the deals are too amazing to pass up.

I wouldn't lie to my bf...even though he has nothing to do with where I get the money to buy my stuff, I know he wants me to be responsible with my monies...and I think he has already a decent idea of how much some of this stuff costs! So yeah, I will tell him how much it is if he asks.

My DH has never asked me how much I have paid for a purse so there is not that much to tell. LOL. Although I do not know what would I say if he asks. I do not buy much and I have sold purses in order to finance other so occasionally is a wash ... He know they are expensive bags though. His motto is that I deserve it as I work hard and that is my story and I stick to it...

Well I dont hide my purchases since my boyfriend can read my mind when I just brought a new purse so really no point of hiding.. I have twisted word about the amount of money I spent on the purse.. I just say I got a good deal on it which 99% I did find a good deals on.. But he still know it's expensive.. This is the guy who grow up with a mom who dont believe spending more than 50 on a purse... However in his mind all bag are expensive and I dont need that much anywayz. He still support my buying decision though.. Occasionally he will give me a gift card or take me to a store so I can choose out my purse..

I don't outright lie but don't tell him about everything I buy, bags or other things. We do have a policy though: If the item is above a certain amount, we have to discuss it before making a decision.
When I purchase something, it's from my own account after all bills and savings have been settled so it is mine to do as I wish.
He does comment occasionally that I buy too many bags and shoes
Unfortunately for me, he doesn't splurge on anything not even electronics, things for his car or tech stuff. His only vice are football and travel, both of which he won't go to without me and DS so basically we get to enjoy it too...
I need to find him something just for him, right

    NOO!! Never lie.

We have individual accounts and share household expenses, but beyond that - we each spend what we wish on ourselves. Neither of use are reckless with our spending, nor would make a purchase that would jeopardize our financial well-being. For large purchases (furniture, his truck accessories, my computer stuff), we do talk first.

While we don't always "inform" the other about something we get ourselves "pre-purchase", it's never hidden. Heck - he's home all day to get the packages, so it's evident what I've been up to!! I do tend to ebay stuff when I'm itching for a new bag, so he's totally clued-in when something new is coming. He even jokes with me "uh, powerselling to fund a new bag??"
