Thread: Another announcement!

I got engaged on Monday!!! I'm so excited and completely overwhelmed with thinking!!! I don't know where to start! My mom and I have been talking but justin and I are going to sit down tonight and discuss everything! So what did you guys do first? I know a lot of you girls are already married!!

Well sort of. We're planning on getting married in about a year and a half. Enough time for me to graduate college, him to get into the state trooper school, and plan everything! This year has just been full of surprises for me!

First step? I'm going to start this same thread when I get engaged.. I really don't know ( .) I would probably set a location, plan a budget, number of people, etc

The first thing I would do would be:
*Find a location and book ASAP!
*Start looking for your dress. (They can take months after you place your order then time for alterations.)
*Book photographer.



Get one of those wedding planner books. I think you can get them free through some of the Bride mags.

Congratulations! We decided to take our family and friends to the beach. There is always lots of stress sometimes with planning the wedding etc. so we had big pre and after parties at home and took the family and immediate friends to the beach for a whole weekend which was very relaxing and enjoyable. The men played golf and had some cocktails while we went to the spas and were pampered. I really enjoyed the experience and it was fun to celebrate with friends once we returned home!

Congrats!! tacuddy's right, date first, where for wedding and reception next. Places get booked so quickly so you need to decide fairly early.
If you can keep a file or something for all your wedding details, it will keep you sane seriously. You can keep your budget (very important), lists of guests, possible menus, decorations, your wedding dress options, ring, wedding cakes, wedding favours, venue for bachelor/hen night etc etc etc...
Tons to be done esp if you're going DIY on certain things(which I did, madness coz I was in my final med school year) BUT enjoy yourself doll!!
You're only going to be engaged once so savour every second of it
Another thing, spend at least 15 mins a day with your DF talking about something other than the wedding, will keep both of you sane in the run up to your big day
