Default Shoes + Bag = In or Out ???

    Hey there,

I have always believed that when going out anywhere that my shoes should always match my bag no matter where I'm going. My girlfriends think that I'm a little to finicky about this but if I don't I feel out of place within myself.

So my question is what do you think? Shoes + Bag....... YES / NO ???
My other bag is a LV

I don't usually do this but there's nothing wrong with it. I guess that you like a sense of balance for the overall effect of your outfit?

I'll admit that I find it rather annoying when customers come into the store I work at trying to find a bag to exactly match their shoes. Some of those colors are very hard to match and most people don't do it anymore where I live. I guess I'm more about complimenting colors instead of matchy-matchy. Like a red bag could be worn with black shoes... that sort of thing. I guess there isn't anything wrong with pairing, say, a red bag with red shoes. If you can pull it off, great! But I don't think its absolutely essential. Plus, I wouldn't want someone to think I was trying too hard. KWIM?

I don't think your shoes & bag should MATCH, they could "go". I don't really care for the matchy matchy look.

I agree with Jess that the shoes and bag should go and not necessarily match !!

I don't like it when they match exzactly. I also don't like when thigs totally clash. So for me, If I am carrying a gray bag, I try to wear black shoes. But if I was carrying my yellow bag, I personally would never wear yellow shoes. I do, however, match the hardware on my bags to my jewelry.....

I would have never thought of matching jewelery to hardware.

I don't match shoes/purse. If I was going somewhere super dressy I'd try to make sure they went together, but that's about it.

It's okay, if it's not too much overall with your outfit. It's too much trouble for me to do on a regular basis though...and then I'd need more shoes!
    Now on a BAN!

I match my hardware with my jewlery, too!

But I am also a shoe matches purse chic. My husband would buy my purse and they would come with the matching style shoe or boot. (see my collection on another thread, LOL!)
Anyway thats what we thought you were suppose to do.
About a year ago my hairstylist who is always up on all the fashion was telling us that its totally not necessary to wear CHANEL shoes and a CHANEL bag.
She says you can wear Gucci shoes with a LV bag and be just fine.
Now I do MATCH as in colors with my outfits. Today I am wearing a beige sweater and a black skirt and so I am using my Gucci beige colored Boston bag...it's not exact, just cute.

I do that too. Drives me nuts when I see women with gold hardware on their bag with silver jewelry.

There are times when I want my shoes to match my purse. Other times I want it to "go" but most of the time I don't even notice if my shoes go with my purse. As long as my hardware matches my jewelry, I'm good.

(I know, I'm really nitpicky about hardware matching jewelry. As Monk would say, "It is a blessing and a curse.")

I try not to clash but I think fashion is about fun and if you're having fun and enjoying your look, you can get away with a lot.
Shoes and purse matching? I try NOT to let that happen. It looks too constrained to me.

I think they have to go well together, and not match. I'm not into the whole matchy matchy look.

i definitely don't match my shoes and my bag. i tend to make sure the whole outfit-bag combination "goes", but not exactly matches. i feel like a perfectly matched bag-and-shoe combo is a little stuffy, haha.
