I think they may have some sort of medicated lotion? I'm not sure though.

Yes! That is what the PM Oatmeal Conditioning spray does-condition their skin. (Or at least it does for my dog.)

*Edit* Wanted to add not to use anything with Tea Tree Oil, although it is good for skin, it does seem to irritate sensitive skin.

SheaPet (try this one first). They have a very good moisturing soothing balm that works well on my dog. Winter makes the skin worse for dogs too besides worse for us.

    What food is she on?
My dog is on Merrick. She tried many before we decided on this one for her. Whatever the type of dog food, good nutrition is everything. It may make a big difference on their coat quality.

I know vets are sometimes crazy expensive. Have you thought of pet medical insurance for her, unless you already have it?

I had a rat terrier that itched all the time but that was because she was schizophrenic or somehting. I moved her in with my mom after she tried to bite one of my stepkids. My mom has an invisible fence and two acres of land, and after she moved in there and could run and run and run and run, she stopped itching so much.

I miss her. Her name was Poopy Do because my ex was French and when he said "puppy" it came out "poopy", and Do rhymed with our last name ... mom renamed her Scooby Do. She was trained in French so I am the only one she actually listens to ... but I live 800 miles away LOL!!!

My yorkie, Speedie is an itcher. He has EXZEMA so I know why he itches. Someone suggested we wash him with Dawn soap- the plain, nothing extra with smells, etc and I havent noticed him scratching as much...

Haha ZG I forgot to respond to the post - I'm not itchy, the dog is itchy

She's still scratching - poor lil thing. This weekend we're going to investigate what PetSmart has so we can get her more comfortable.

Hi lilstrett - have you tried any of the food recommendations yet? I have a super allergic pug. And we had to do the following steps because she had tons of issues - she was itching herself raw, had ear infections and yeast infections.

We got her off of food that contained chicken and all grains (not saying your pup is allergic to chicken) but by trial we discovered that Natasha did worse on diets that contained chicken and diets that contained lamb. And grains like wheat and corn just make her flare up.

We got a prescription antihistamine - clemastine, but most dogs will respond well to benedryll.

We got a prescription shampoo and spray. She gets shampooed 1x/week and we spray her feet if they look red or she starts "worrying at them." We also tend to wipe her feet off after walks because fertilizer or rock salt can be very irritating.

She finally needed allergy shots to get everything completely under control.

But she's doing fabulous now, if she gets some random treat she might have a flare up, but they're not so bad and don't cause her much discomfort. She's certainly not scratching herself raw or getting infections anymore.

    She's my special girl.

So there is hope, just keep trying. Lake will thank you for it.

I haven't been able to find the Wellness food yet. There aren't a lot of PetCos around, which is where I think they have it, so I'm going to check there this weekend.

Right now we feed her venison and brown rice formula from Nutro

I looked into the Royal Canine food, and saw a couple that we could get from VetAmerica , but it's expensive so we might talk to the vet about it.
