I got on Dell.com and did a live chat to ask about a 6 cell v. 9 cell battery and the guy talked m e in to buying a computer...
I did save $300 though. It was $698.11 after tax (which in TN is almost 10% in my county...) It came with a 2 GHz/800mhz FSB/2MB cache Windows Vista Home Premium Ed 15.4" display 3GB Shared Dual Channel memory 250 GB hard drive CD/DVD writer Intel next generation wireless card Webcam All the typical computer things like networking modem etc I bought this for my DH because his bday is in Feb, our anniversary is late Jan and Valentines day is right after his bday as well. How should I suprise him with this? Did I do the right thing? He's been wanting a laptop and he bought me so much for Christmas that I wanted to buy him something as well. For you technical people, are those pretty good stats for a computer? |

that's really sweet of you~ but for a techie guy, 15.4 monitor is too small.. can you upgrade it? to like at least 19" or something...

No, the 15" is fine, as he will throw it up on a docking station and use a monitor if he needs. He doesn't like the big monitors plus those systems cost at least $200 more....

Just so you all know, if you ever get a dell, chat with someone online through their website first. I re-priced the exact same system and the price he gave me was $150 better than when I built it myself. Add that to the $150 the system was on sale for when I built it myself the savings was $300...
Any ideas on how to suprise him with this? I am going to keep it at my office and probably suprise him on our anniversary (because it's sooner than his birthday - but not by much. It's a combined anniversary/birthday/valentines day present) I was thinking on our anniversary (a monday) work a half day. Wrap the present. I will take makeup to work and put it on there (I wear minimal makeup from day to day - no use wasting such pricey things when all you do is sit at a computer...) and then go home at lunch, place the box in front of the door then hide somewhere where I can still watch it and have his brother call him and tell him to open the door there's something outside. |

Hmm... you could set the computer up somewhere and when he comes home ask him to fetch something from that room.
![]() But your idea sounds good too. So he wouldn't know that you're home then?

Hes laid off and always home and if I showed up he would know I wanna suprise him.
I could put it in my trunk and ask him to get it out or something. I also bought ms office 2007!! For $50 through ultimatedeal.com |

Aw ND that's so awesome of you!!!
I think it's a great laptop, and the monitor is the right size, you don't want anything too big for a laptop. The specs sound great, and I think he will be totally surprised!
