    Default feeling a little lost

Today I found out that my dad has lung cancer and there is also a spot on his lower back. This is just one of the many things that's been going on. Has anyone else felt like they just cannot get a break? My husbands' ex-wife is causing a lot of problems because she wants my husband to sign over his rights to thier son, my mom has a heart condition and my enigine in my car blew, I had to have all 4 wisdom teeth removed, my grandfather passed away from lung cancer and now my dad has cancer. This has all happened within the past 6 months, I seriously feel that the people that try to do good and help others are the ones that always have the worst luck. I decided to post this here because you all seem so nice and I just wanted to get a little of my stress/worrying out. Thanks for letting me post it here!

I'm so sorry that you are going through all of this in your life, I know how hard it is to keep your chin up
when it's just one thing after another, after another going wrong. Life has a funny way of testing a person's strength sometimes.
Stay positive Magicstx21, and keep yor chin up, as life has a funny way of working out also.

My thoughts are with you. I went through quite a bit too in the last two years. My mum passed away suddenly of heart failure 10 weeks after my son was born in 2006, my grandfather passed away 6 months later, my MIL found out she had cancer, then my dad found out he had bowel cancer which had spread to his liver (both of them are OK now) and my sister got divorced. After a pretty uneventful life, I couldn't understand why all these happened one after another. But I realised that life has a funny way of going on even though you want to shout out "stop!" because you just want to fall down in a heap. You somehow find the strength to carry on and I knew that I had to be there for my kids. You WILL get through this somehow. It's amazing how strong the spirit is.
Best of luck to you and your family.

I'm sorry that you're going through some complications, but you have to hang in there, better times will come. How is your father feeling by the way?

Thank you all for you kind words!! Arianne12 I am sorry that you have had so many difficult things happen in such a short time, and yeah sometimes reaming stop. I keep praying and I am keeping my head up, I try not to let the stress show because my lil' boy gets upset if he sees anyone upset. My dad is doing ok, he is having problems breathing but he siad besides that he is fine, I don't think that the reality has set in. My mom is the one I am the most worried about because she stresses over the smallest things and this is huge. Stress isn't good with her heart condition, and she is scared about losing her house if my dad gets really bad. My husband, my son and myself are going to move in with her if my dad doesn't make it and we will help witht the bills..and now DH is stressing lol. Again THANK YOU ALL for all the kind words, and to Arianne12 your' post helped a lot, knowing that you stayed strong through all that makes me want to stay strong.

This is why I come to this site several times a day, I love reading all the posts where you all support each other I come here to take a break from all my worries, I might not post a lot but I sure love reading every post I can lol

So sorry for your troubles. I guess all you can do is address each situation one at a time, and try to resolve the problems.
    I'll pray for your parents.
Just know you have a little support network here.
Here's hoping 2009 is better for you.

How far advanced is your father's cancer? Have they given him any treatment options? Ask your mother to make a list of questions to ask the oncologist about all of the treatment options that are available. The "C" word doesn't necessarily mean it is incurable although it does seem like that when you first hear the terrible news. Your father, you, and your family will have a long road ahead of you but being a strong support team will be the best for all involved.
I have been in remission for two years now (due to a metastatic cancer) and my family and friends are what got my family and me through the most difficult time in my life. (My oncologist team is even shocked at how well I am doing!!)
My mother has now been in remission for seven years and is doing GREAT!!
My father passed away in October 2004 with a metastatic esophageal cancer.
So you are not alone, most of us know someone that has been touched with this horrible disease.
We are here for you and if you ever need to vent we will listen. TBF gets me through a lot of difficult days!

*HUGS* to you and your family! You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm glad that my words have helped you in some way. We may not help you with solutions, but when you feel that things are just out of your control, we are here to listen if you can't vent at those close to you because they are also in the same head space. Zombiegirl is right, cancer doesn't mean it's incurable. My dad was at stage 4 - and there is no stage 5. That was a year ago. He's working and out golfing most days now.

It's hard to give advice in these situations. All I know is that you have to stay strong and trust that everything will be okay and that there is a reason for everything. When stuff starts happening, it does seem to come in multiples...and it's easy to fall victim to it all. I would just lean on my family for support and find a higher power of your choice to believe in. If you (or your husband) are working and your employer has EAP program, sometimes you can talk to a counselor for free. That wouldn't be a bad idea. If you don't have this option, then churches usually have counseling centers that are free or low-cost.

In 2006, my dad had a tore intestine and a bunch of other stuff happened too with him and my grandparents and job losses, etc... (I wasn't there, I live 1,000 miles from my family - but my mom had to deal with it all) and my mom ended up getting on Effexor to help her deal with it all. It makes her a bit nutty, but it takes the edge off.

    Our thoughts are with you.

Hi Sweetie.. I can totally relate!!! In 2 years I had 6 family members pass away and 2 friends. In 2008...I got diagnosed with Graves Disease and Endometrosis... my Mother got diagnosed with heart disease and my father got diagnosed with Post Traumatic War Syndrome (he's a Vietnam vet & he is severely depressed). My dad has been laid off and my brother is about to get laid off. My ex broke my heart into pieces and continues to do so.. and I'm in the music industry.. and lets just say it's NEVER pretty. I have had one fall back after the next. My family and I do nothing but good for others.. and constantly have bad luck.

But you know what? I never really let it get to me. I always look at the bright side.. and say to myself "It could be worse.. one day things will get better." I always try to stay positive.. and when I feel myself about to cry.. I try thinking about something else. Just stay positive.. and I hope 2009 is a better year for you...

You should come on the forum more... purses and fashion in general make me happy. When I'm posting in here.. or writing blogs for the site.. it's kinda like an escape from my reality. I don't think about anything else but purses and fashion. Sometimes when you can find an outlet that lets you escape from reality for a little.. helps a lot.

thank you again!!! ZG they are not sure how far along he is and this coming wed. they are doing all the test and then he should get a treatment plan. He is having trouble breathing b/c he has COPD and his lungs are also filling with fluid. He says that he isn't hurting or anything but he had to take a vacation from work because he just cannot breath.

I am staying strong so that I can help my parents out. I figured that the universe wouldn't lay all this on me if I couldn't take it...like the saying goes "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger". I just have to make sure that not only I take care of my self but that my mom does the same so she doesn't get to sick to do anything.

I was telling my DH about everything that you all posted and how it made me feel so much better and he smiled and said that he was happy that I found people that I could talk too about this situation. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. I really appreciate all the kind words and the details of others experiences.
