Likewise here's a link to an environmental science program at a college I am familiar with. I think they have a pretty good program (based on what I have heard in the community, so it might be biased but the Arkansas Bioscience Research Institute is located on this campus) ... maybe there are some contacts here you could email and discuss what you are interested in and maybe they can guide you on your research.

I have actually contacted professors at other colleges than the one I go to when they have written articles, etc (I just had to write a 10 page paper on auditor independence) and for the most part they are eager to help you learn, etc ...

Good luck and keep us informed!

The first one looks like pharmaceuticals, but the second one looks a bit more promising. Thanks Nashville!

I'm going to start working on my resume as soon as I'm finished with finals and stuff. I haven't done anything with my resume for a REALLY long time since I have worked at the same place for what seems like forever.

How about a study on death rate trends in zoos? We seem to lose at least one animal per year at our zoo.

Death rate trends? I think the reason most of the animals die at my local zoo is because they are so old. There are animals there that were there when I was a kid!

Okay, I'm wanting to work on my resume for the application. It also says that you're supposed to give a personal statement about previous research or projects you have accomplished that are relevant to the this research program. And it says that two academic references need to be provided. I'm feeling as though I am at a bit of a disadvantage here. I'm a transfer student and I took all of my general education credits at a community college. So here I am with only 3 semesters left until I graduate and all the classes for my major/minor are getting crammed into a very short period of time. The truth is, I really haven't taken that many classes yet that would apply to what they are asking for. I took zoology, which didn't require us to even do a research paper. My botany class was transferred from the community college and it was taken online (I hear now that my school is no longer accepting that class as a transfer equivalent... boy am I lucky). I did a practicum that was simply me watching animals do animals stuff. So that just leaves me with my Genetics class. We did two experiments in that class that required a paper to go along with them. But I don't know if they can really be labeled excellent research projects. Especially since I didn't do so well on the first one... the fruit flies weren't producing predictable Mendelian ratios, so something wasn't right.
::sigh:: I feel so discouraged now because I am sure that there will be many applicants that are more qualified than I. This sucks...

Just try to spin it as positive as possible. Don't let your insecurities and uncertainties show in your application. Use big flowery words. When I don't know how to answer a question or I don't think I know anything about it I Just usually start writing about something relevant (LIke I am doing now) most the time it works out just fine...
