Default Anyone have 10 year boy or girl?

So far I have for the girl...
Electronic piano (she asked for this)

    (2) Naartjie clothing sets (in nuetral but kind of girly coloring since I'm not sure if she is a girly girl)

    *Bike

    For the boy...
    Remote control car

    Bingo

All in one game board (which has chess, checkers, etc)

    *Bike

Am I missing anything vital or am I done shopping? I ended up buying 8 toys each for the 3 and 4 year olds, but they were small toys like dolls and Dora adventure kits, tea sets, that sort of thing. I don't want the older kids to think the younger ones got more and it's unfair, but then the older ones are getting more expensive presents.

Don't 10 year old boys like video games? But I guess that might mean you'd have to buy a game console. Hmm... I guess a DS is only $129.

What about a skate board? Boys like skate boards too. LOL!

Wii is great...if your kidsd are going to play video games, this is the console to get because they can stay active with some of the games. You could get the console for EVERYONE then buy each kid their own game...

You could do the same with Xbox 360 or PS3, but I would go with Wii personally...

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I definitely have some things to think about.

We're already getting him a bike so would you get a skate board too? It was actually the 10 yr. old girl that asked for a bike and a scooter. He asked for a bike, karaoke machine and remote control car.

I saw some craft things at Big Lots, but they weren't very exciting. Maybe I'll head to Learning Express and see what they have there.

I thought about this also but what if the parents are like me and don't allow their kids to play video games? Going with the whole conservative thing...

Oh, and RC Heli's? What is that? A video game or remote control helicopters?

We have the Wii because I bought it for my husband for his birthday this year. The games are definitely more kids friendly but still just as addictive. We had to really tighten up on my son's play time because it became all about the games and not so much about his school work or the books in his bookshelf.
He is dying for the Star Wars lego game for Christmas and I am going back and forth on this.
I do agree it's a fun system though. MY Dh is now pushing me for the Xbox because he wants Halo.

You could throw a few of the more educational games in there if you go for the Wii or a DS like Brain Age or Big Brain Academy. I think a game console is a good idea. Maybe you could get the boy & the girl their own DS. They would still be able to share games.

OMG! I love Big Brain Academy! That would be a good idea -- getting some of the more educational DS games.

IDK... the boys in my neighborhood seem to like both bikes and skateboards. I thought skateboarding was "cool" again. LOL! There aren't any Tony Hawks wearing pink shirts anymore, but it's still pretty popular right now.

If he asked for a bike, karaoke machine and remote control car then that is what I would get him. As far as a skateboard my son and Mr. Zombs both LOVE skateboards that is what Mr. Zombs is getting for Christmas, of course the ones on his list are rare and old school ones that are crazy priced and hard to find.

The RC Heli's are the radio controlled helicopters. They are in expensive, a lot of fun and can be flown indoors!! A blast come Christmas morning!!

Normally my kids are limited to an hour a week (on weekends) for either tv or video games, at my discretion. Right now he is on a game ban completely until Christmas day because he has a 89 in one of his classes. Now considering he has friends that spend their lives playing games and their games are plummeting too, I hesitate to even let him start playing again. This becomes the only thing he talks about and it drives me batty.

As for getting the 10 year old the three things he wanted, these are big ticket items and I wanted to be able to get him 5 or 6 toys, instead of just 2 or 3. His 3 and 4 yr. old sisters are getting 9 toys each. They may be smaller things, but still... I don't want them thinking they were slighted.

I'll have to look into the Helicopter for my son. He loves remote control cars.

It would be if they got other things throughout the year, but we went by the apartment yesterday to drop off some of my daughter's old clothes and toys for the 3 and 4 yr. old and I was truly humbled. They have nothing. Absolutely nothing. So I really want this Christmas to be special for them, which is why I was going for more presents (smaller) and then the big one - the bike/the comforter set, etc... My kids are so blessed and don't even appreciate it most of the time or know what it is like to be with nothing. It will be nice to give a family an amazing Christmas and the kids some nice things to play with and wear.
