Neither one of us is really in a position to save right now. But maybe I'll have more money once next school year rolls around. Maybe I won't be trying to make up for a car I shouldn't have had to buy by that time.

::sigh:: Now I think I made myself depressed. I shouldn't set my heart on a bbag. I can't even pay my bills right now. How would I ever be able to afford one of those by May 2010. Maybe if I work all summer long, save all of my extra financial aid money that get next school year that I possibly can, and...

Have you thought about a Speedy 25? The Speedy has been around for many generations and many more to come!! Also it is cheaper than the Balenciaga!
    Just my 2 cents!

That's what came to my mind when I first saw this thread. It is a classic, and just about the right price of what you are thinking to spend!

Aw! Don't be sad!! I look at Balenciaga bags online a lot and there's NO WAY I could get one right now. I start thinking...well maybe if I saved and never bought anything? Then I just tell myself "no". But I know one day I will get one....someday!

Hmm... maybe a Speedy 25 would be a better option. I saw a lady carrying one today and it looked so cute. And if I don't have quite enough money for a new one, used ones don't sell for too much. At least not right now they don't. Let-Trade has them all the time for less than $400.

The speedy 25 is very versatile. It's an all occasion bag in my opinion. I take mine grocery shopping in my jeans and and t-shirt and I also can carry it with a dress to a nice function.

Don't worry about the Bal. You will get yours eventually. I'm selling three bags just to justify it.

I like the 25 idea. That is definitely a classic, that will last years. Also what about a pre-loved monogram alma?

What about the Neverfull PM? It's smaller than the others, but still very versatile and a bit cheaper than the normal LVs.

Also, maybe a messenger bag? I know that is above your limit but it won't technically be a purse...

I also love the iPhone. Maybe something more technology oriented will be appropriate for your hubby to swallow.

There are a lot of great suggestions already, but I just wanted to congratulate you on your (soon) graduation! I'm sure everyone is so proud of you

^^^ LOL! I just hope Mr BRS feels I deserve it! But we all know how he is.

Thank you guys for all the congrats! I'm not quite there yet though. I have 3 more semesters to go, and no I can't take summer classes. I've been super stressed, sleep deprived, and I have no money. Hopeful this will all be worth it. I'm sort of worried about what Mr BRS's cousin so rudely said to me. After telling her what my major was she said "Oh, but you'd only top out at $40,000 with that." I think my parents are a little more proud of me than they let on. They really discouraged me from going to school because of the costs.

^ But the value of an education is SO much more than what your husband's cousin thinks it is! It's not just about what you can earn once you have the degree. Even if you didn't earn a penny more than before you started (very unlikely), you will still have learned so much more about the world and yourself, and accomplished something very worthwhile. So MAJOR congrats to you for undertaking, and successfully completing, this endeavor! You won't regret it!!
