I am sorry to hear that, I lost my dogie and I never ever wanted to have one again. Sorry you have to make this decision but at the end is the best you can do to help her to feel better.

My Sunday. Although we had her for a short time, she was a life lesson in humility, loving life and forgiveness.

When she came to us she was deaf (from malnutrition), half blind and skin and bones. She had been rescued by an angel in San Antonio and then her other angel Tonja at Siamese Rescue.

When she was originally rescued in San Antonio, she was comatose and couldnít move due to malnutrition. Through her angels, she was nursed back to health and when we took her in a year later she was able to walk a bit and clean herself. We used to joke that she looked like a drunken sailor, but I was always so proud of her for how she kept on trucking.

Everyday that she was here she showed me Godís love. When she could have been cold and feral due to lack of love and attention in her past life, she was loving and forgiving. She always had a nuzzle for the other animals and would spend hours in a beanís lap if we let her. She adored my children and would attack their legs in a nuzzle any chance she got and loved sleeping with them at night Ė especially my 8 year old son.

    She loved life.

When she could have died at the Wild Cat Ranch, she chose life. And as she struggled in those months afterwards to regain her strength and ability to walk, she chose to forge ahead and embrace it all. She taught me that nothing is too much when you have the will to live and the love of others to guide you along. I think back to bad days and know that she got me through those. When I was feeling low, all I have to do is think about Sunday and how she chose life, she chose happiness. As long as she was being loved, she was at peace with the world.

And at the end, I hope I was able to give her the peace she rightly deserves.

    To my Sunday,

May she be running in the fields with my Henry, hearing the birds sing, climbing trees and chasing squirrels. May she always have a warm lap to sleep and snuggle in and may she know peace.

    I love you Sunny.

Thanks guys. I'm at peace and I know she was/is too so it makes it a little easier.

She came up on the bed last night. I felt her jump up (which she was never able to do) and settle herself next to me. I've been calm and okay with my decision since then.

Maevy, you made the right decision. No matter what you never want your animals to go through pain. Don't you wish they could talk?! I fought with putting my dog down 5 years ago because I just didn't want to. But now I think back and I know it was the right thing to do. I think about him ever single say still, and I know he is happy now, just like your Sunday!
