Default Judith Leiber Maharaja Elephant Minaudiere

Is it an art object or a purse?

This sculpture is hand-beaded with Austrian crystals in shades of ruby, aqua, gold, and petal. (It also has a gold chain strap, in case you want to tote it .) Regal, dazzling and exactly the thing that gets everyone talking.
    What do you all think?

You can pick him up at Neiman Marcus for only $5,995.00

I think it is a work of art.

    Simply spectacular!!!!

FYI, the word "Maharaja" means Emperor

She does have some simple looking clutches. But most of her creations should be in a museum, just for the sheer artistry of the object....they are just too gorgeous!!

I was surprised to see all her unusual bags (beehive, rose etc.) sell out really fast recently on a sample sale site

I think this should sit on a shelf, pride of place, in the home. It's amazing, but I wouldn't wear it as a purse. The Yorkie one is adorable too.

They truly are for the collector. Very pretty, but extremely unpractical for use as an actual bag.

I've been very fond of Judith Leiber's minaudieres for quite a while and I think I will purchase one for an upcoming wedding party I will have to attend.
