Hello All,
(Male half of Archie Talking - wife thinks more the merrier)
I am curious to know how many watches is enough to own?
I have set the bar at 4 mechanical/auto watches......
Currently I have 3 and am looking hard at the 4th piece to complete the collection......
A friend of mine who is a watch collector said something very wise to me.... "it is better to have 1 excellent watch - instead of 15 mediocre watches...."
Depends really on the quality, I mean you can have 20 watches from Primark, that always lose time and break, or you can have a 'Watch for Life' I suppose, such as a GUESS watch, a Rolex or even a Breitling, as long as they last you forever, you don't need too many.
I only have one watch right now. In my opinion, you really only need one GOOD watch. But it's okay to have 2 or 3 if you want to mix things up once in awhile.
I have friends who are watch enthusiasts and think that you need a signature watch from every specialist brand ie Panerai, Jaeger le Coultre, Patek Phillippe etc!!
I'm not that (I told them so) or have the funds to do so...
IMO, 3-4 should cover all your need (1 or 2 classic watches for work, a fun one for casual, a 'bling' one for functions)
But then, I have 5 and looking for more...

I think about 8 is right for me personally.
I have several play watches, a couple are Fossil because I like the movement.
I have my Dad's watch, which is just a cheap nothing watch, but my Dad passed away 20 months ago and having the watch to wear when I'm having a rough day is comforting.
My Tag is my armor against a rough day on the job.
And I have a couple of Seikos that are sentimental, one a gift to me from DH right before our son was born. Son never slept and that watch saw us thru many sleepless nights. I always think back to those quiet nights, holding my baby boy. Son is now 24 so that Seiko has been a good watch.
The other Seiko is blingy and makes me laugh since I'm not flashy, usually.

Reason: grammer
I have one watch, a Citizen's Eco Drive that is a nice quality watch with small diamonds. It's dressy enough to wear at night but it's still okay to wear to work. If I'm just running around town on my day off I don't wear a watch. I always have my cell phone with me so I know what time it is.

I have two but I only wear the other one for special occasions because of its sleek design. I have an everyday watch and it has been with me for almost seven years.
