Got it. Have you considered another environment, or do you like it there, like that?

All--we've deviated a lot--I"m just trying to figure out what's the new "in" bag for fall/winter. I was looking at the LV Wish or Whisper in Suede monogram but I'm worried it would be heavy and high maintenance: i.e. what if she puts it in a puddle on a bar table or something would it stain?

What does GM mean? What about PM? I'm going to suspect grand vs petit, but M? Mallet? Marroquinerie?

Thanks so much for the comments!
You're right, GM means Grand Modele, MM is Moyen Modele (Medium) and PM is Petit Modele....

If she wants a really expensive bags go for Ostrich or Croc skin bags, or have a look at the most expensive bag thread here... just search it. HTH

If she didn't, that would indicate I'm not successful in my choice of career and that I'm not worthy of an attractive woman. Other than this normal banking crises, most attractive women here have monthly shopping allowances and apartments paid for by guys vying for their attentions--i met a woman last week that gets 15K US$ shopping allowance/month + a suite @ the four seasons from her boyfriend.

So many of my guy friends here are told by their wives/girlfriends that they need to make more money otherwise the wife's family will disown her beacuse they would look "poor" or rather "poorer" than their parents' friends' kids. (did that make sense?)
It does. And I'm sorry. I can't imagine ever feeling that way or treating someone like that. You should move to the states. We really love nice guys here.

My attitude is, if you can't roll with the best, how can you call yourself the best? I look at it as the cost of doing business--gotta signal to your potential customers and partners that you are successful (this is what Spence won his 1973 Economics Nobel for--job market signalling)

The women here all say they don't want a scrub, but for them a scrub is a guy who doesn't buy them a new goyard or hermes bag every week plus jewelry a couple times a month.

The market here is so small that these women know if their guy doesn't do it, they can easily replace him with someone who can, so us guys are forced to compete or remain single.

Maveyblue, perhaps you should consider moving to Hong Kong? Its nice here.

Oh my, I just read this thread... alphaboi, you sound like a really nice guy who deserves a girl who can truly appreciate you. But I know what HK society is like. I'm S'porean and S'poreans are materialistic but HK is 10 times worse. My DH asked me if I would move there if he got a work transfer there and i said "no!". It is really sad that people are measured according to the stuff they can afford. Those types of values are warped! When you die, nobody would talk about what sort of car your drove or handbags you own, but whether you were a good friend, a good dad etc.

    Sorry for the rant.

    i agree with Arianne
we all respect you want to be the best and provide the best to your gf. We wish all men are like that, seriously. But not everyone is no1 in everything.
I must say that not how much you can spend for your gf to define how good you are, but how good you are in personality that mean the most. Don't get me wrong on this, i'm not saying you are not good, just plainly my opinion.

Anyway, i sincerely hope that your gf will be with you, no matter you're rich or poor.
that's it. I always think that if a guy can buy a girl, then the girl can be bought by someone too. I guess i'm very peter pan in love/relationship. I always believe in true love.

Anyway, good luck with the bag/purse hunting.

Are you serious??? I'm a happily married women to my best friend and soul mate, who I totally appreciate everything he does for me and the kids. I wouldn't trade that for anything. I married for love and just happened to luck out in the financial department.

But I've got a friend I would love to hook you up with. Let me know if you ever want to visit Texas.

The other reason I couldn't move there is because I couldn't take all the superficialness of it all. That makes me sad.
