Hi! I'm just wondering who, other than the rich & famous, owns Hermes bags? They are so expensive and such a statement. However, most of the people I know wouldn't have a clue on the value of such a bag. And I'm certain there are a TON of fakes out there. So, who owns these bags? Professionals, socialites... in NY, LA, Chicago... Does Jane Doe in small town America own one & what is her profession? Is there a minimum salary? Can Jane Doe even buy one or is the list too long and she keeps getting bumped.

Someone please fill me in. I love quality and the fact that its a timeless bag. Am I dreaming too big to think I should have one? LOL! I don't want to have a real bag and have everyone think its a fake!

You have valid questions. Since you are more concerned with your personal finances, determine if this bag is or is not a huge chunk of your salary. I would say that if this bag purchase is less than one percent of your salary, you may be in the right arena. Good luck!

I have 2 ;-), but I have to admit I'm a bit lucky: I received 2 from my grandmother: a black Kelly from 1964 and a brown Kelly from 1959. I have a weakness for bags (who doesn't) and I've bought Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana bags, but I have to admit that Hermes is something else. My grandmother used these bags frequently and if you look at the state they're in after 45-50 years it's just unbelievable! I admit Hermes is very very expensive, and I would also hesitate to spend such sums on a bag, but it's bit like buying a jewel you can pass on to your daughter/granddaughter...

OMG You have vintage Hermes? I am dying over here! and what a treasure, that your grandmother passed these onto you.

I'm rather young, and a very moderate income (military) so I don't own bags. I just own Karos and silks of various types. I also have a clover keyring and a scarf ring, both presents from TPFers. I do like the Kelly style, and would love it in black box. I also want a Jige in raisin box!!! Otherwise, I am not obsessed with owning anything for myself, but love the brand and love looking at what everyone else has.
