Question What do you respond when someone asks you "How much did you pay for that"?

I've been asked this before within my family, of course I tell them the price and then all they say is "ok" I hate that. Why ask and then be all like ? It makes me uncomfortable.

How could i avoid the questions or at least respond differently, without lying?

    What have you responded?

This happened yesterday to my sister. We were at my aunt's house for a family dinner & my sister just bought the Tivoli PM. She was showing my aunt, who does like LV & has her own, and my aunt was like how much was it? So my sister said a lot. LOL I guess that's one way to answer it. My mother asks me sometimes when she sees my bags how much they were. I just say the same thing.

I say "I don't remember", "A really nice dinner" or "my husband bought it". And then I change the subject.

    But "a lot" works too.

I took my coach tote to my inlaws and they asked how much it was (400.00) and I told them because we are all pretty close, and they acted like I was stupid, my mom-in-law said I like it but I would never spend that much money on a d**n bag, when I could go to target or walmart and get one for 20 bucks. LOL well you get what you pay for. From now on I'm just gonna say I don't remember

Most of the time my family thinks that I am nuts so my answer is usually "I don't remember."

Done...I think...Until I find something that catches my eye

well, for me, depends on who asking the question, if that person is a bag freak or with fashion sense, i will tell the truth..
but if my bf asks me, i will tell him "are you going to reimburse me if i tell you?" then the conversation ends.
if someone who i know will react unfriendly, then i will say i don't remember

I usually say something like "I don't remember", "Too much", or "I am embarrassed to say", unless it is another bag lover then I tell the price.

If it's a bag lover, I would tell the actual price. But yeah, if I know someone's not going to have nice reaction, I say "quite a bit".

Well personally I tell the truth, unless it's people that don't have any money. TBH I don't see why I should feel guilty for buying things that I love and that are good quality. Maybe one way that usually gets you out of it is saying "you wouldn't approve" and smile to people that will be unkind about it.

Usually when my friends and family ask, I tell them the exact price. For some reason my dad always asks me "How much is your new bag?", I tell him the truth. I can't lie to him. Then he calls me crazy.

I usually say "I don't know." because I hate hearing their response if it's going to be bad...

I always say "not too much" or "i don't remember" or I lie and say someone gave it to me - I hate talking about the price of things with people (except you girls of course bc we're all discussing bags and stuff like that) - I think it's kind of rude to ask people how much something cost, unless it's someone close to you or a family member or something.

Sometimes I feel bad if I've spent a lot on something and know that the person asking wouldn't be able to afford it, or would spend that much money on rent or something. I just don't like to make other people feel bad, even though I'm proud of what I have. I don't want people to think I'm showy or snobby because I have nice things, it's just what I choose to spend my money on.
