Fabulous Finds: The Bag Borrow Or Steal Outlet
Fabulous Finds: The Bag Borrow Or Steal Outlet

People have been talking a lot about this website called Bag Borrow or Steal lately. You know, the website that let's you rent a luxurious bag by the week (or by the month). I was over at their website looking at all of the pretty things they had to offer. Problem is, I don't know if I could simply "borrow" a bag. I mean, by the time you pay the rental fee, you could have had a third of the bag actually paid for (if you were to actually go out and but it at a store). Personally, if I'm investing that much into a bag, I'd rather just go buy the silly thing so that I can keep it forever. It might cost me a little more in the short run, but not in the long run.
Now that I have said this, you're probably wondering why anyone would want to visit this website at all. But let's not be too hasty in judging Bag Borrow or Steal. They still have a lot to offer for bargain hunters in their outlet section. Yes, that's right. You can actually purchase "gently carried" designer handbags (and jewelry) for a fraction of their suggested retail prices. As a Let-Trade fan, I can tell you that there is nothing wrong with buying a previously owned handbag. Just because a bag has already been loved does not mean it doesn't have any life left in it. Check out these bags pictured above that are currently available in Bag Borrow or Steal's outlet section.
Kooba 'Penelope' Evening Handbag - $85
This gorgeous patent pewter clutch normally retails for $295.
Fendi Denim Spy Shoulder Handbag - $295
My only regret is that this bag isn't all leather instead of denim fabric. It normally retails for $650.
Yves Saint Laurent Classic Tote - $775
This classic black tote comes complete with the Y logo on the front. Suggested retail was $1,295.00.
Lori Bonn 'Luxe' Black Onyx Earrings - $255
Yummy black onyx earrings! Retail for these babies is $575.

Oh, I didn't know you could buy off them as well. I've been getting their emails for ages. Just to look at the bags. I don't think I could rent a bag. I'd be too worried about ruining it and then having to return it.

Re: Fabulous Finds: The Bag Borrow Or Steal Outlet
I've had nightmare experiences with them. I originally signed up so I could test out bags before I bought them. Well, for the price of what a bag costs to rent, they are in horrible condition. Both bags were not in wearable condition and I paid $200 for one and $100 for the other. I was not pleased. Their idea of "slighly used" and mine are very different.
I would be scared to test out their outlet.Thinking of...

Their outlet bags are non-returnable (if I remember correctly). I hate bad return policies!

Bag Borrow or Steal usually has a 20% off coupon ad towards the back pages of Cosmo.

There are some girls over at TPF that have purchased outlet bags and been quite pleased. I think most of the complaints have been their sky-high rental prices. But maybe you guys have had different experiences.

Re: Fabulous Finds: The Bag Borrow Or Steal Outlet
Thanks for posting BrS

I think it's cool that they have an outlet section, I mean what else are they going to do with the bags that are too worn to rent. I mean it's just like buying a used bag off of ebay.. although personally I would check ebay (or bluefly) first before buying a used bag from the outlet. Also, that sucks that there's a no return policy. I mean what if the looks worse in r.l. than in the pictures...
ps. I have, and LOVE that YSL tote!!!!! It's perfect for day.. holds my laptop, wallet, and everything.

Jennifer - They wouldn't sell bags that were totally worn out would they? The bag that that one person bought looked great in the pics she took.

Re: Fabulous Finds: The Bag Borrow Or Steal Outlet
I don't mean too worn.. but rather experienced too much love in it's life to rent out.
They probably wouldn't want to rent out bags even if they showed a little wear... which is why they have an outlet.
