just finished my Master's degree in the summer and finally got my pay raise for that last month, I also teach a few fitness classes a week to help subsidize the things I like to buy in life --- I also have a generous significant other who finally understands the fact that I like to carry around a fancy purse/accessories !!! He bought me a nice LV wallet for Christmas last year , a LV cell phone case (that doesn't work anymore since I got a Blackberry) when we went to Vegas in spring, and this year a beautiful black Coach for Christmas. Ohh and mom too !! She started me on this path over 17 years ago when she bought me my first Coach bag because I was complaining that I was like the only one in HS that didn't have a nice bag ( I went to a magnet school , even though the gals were smart , they liked nice BAGS).

Well, I fell in to the trap a couple years ago and was charging them on my CCs. Luckily, I didn't use them just displayed them and kept the tags on them etc. My hubby finally sat me down in front of my bookshelf of 30+ Coach purses and said you can keep any I've given you but you have to return the rest. So, that's what I did. I returned the rest and paid off all the CC handbag debt. Now, I don't use a CC for anything I buy. I don't have a CC even in my wallet. My hubby is a photographer and we have a studio in our house. He just started this business last year and is finally making some decent money. Over Christmas I bought a Cole Haan bag that cost me $200 but, I used Christmas money I got from my in-laws to buy it. It's definitely a lot better now. I actually appreciate the bags I do buy a whole lot more. Plus I currently have 4 bags (non Coach) and they aren't neglected.

Well, my dad is a multi-millionaire in real estate and owns 2 big companies that make stuff you all probably used today. I don't really have to ask for anything, cause I'm the youngest. He's hard on my brother and makes him work for anything, but I can pretty much just point and smile, and I got it... sucks for him.. probably cause I'm the baby, and I actually listen... sometimes, lol. I try not to ask or accept much though cause I prefer the feeling I get when I work for the stuff myself and end up with something.
This is my purse, for there are others like it, but this one is mine. -Army Quote'

I save my money until I can afford the bag I want. I also look on ebay a lot to find great deals on Previously Loved bags. The way I look at it- $100 saved on one bag is another $100 I can spend on another!

I just can't bring myself to spend my husband's hard earned money on luxury items that I really don't NEED, so the money that I save only comes out of my half of the income. It's nice feeling like you've earned a purse all by yourself

I am married and me and my husband are in the U.S. Air force. We both get paid enough to pay bills and buy some stuff for ourselves so i usually just save up 50-100 dollars every two weeks until i have enough to get a bag i want. Most of my bags are pre-loved but i get them where they have only been used a little.

I wait to get money for birthday/Christmas, etc. I'm a stay at home mom, and my husband makes a really good living but we are paying the remnant of $50k school loans between us (private college) and so are working hard to get out of debt. Haven't used a CC in over two years, and that feels great.

I don't know enough about used bags to be confident I'm getting something authentic. Has anybody posted a "how-to" on buying previously loved bags?

i'm 18 and pretty much super spoiled! i got my first chanel bag for my 16th birthday! and i've been collecting like crazzy ever since. Mom pays for most of my purses, the only ones i ever paid for was my pink chanel bag and my damier azur bag! and i guess currently paying off my black multi rita with money in my savingss that was given to me by my mom. since the economy is so downn she's making me pay for it. but yet again she just bought my a burberry bag and my aunt bought me a damier clutch. i dont work and im not someone who likes going to school, but i do go to cosmotology school which i loveeee! it's so funn! i'm definitely a priviledged girl, but sad thing is my mom only buys me the bags she likes! so i cant everrr get the speedy! and my older sister doesnt let me borrow her purses neither does my mom.

You are a really lucky girl. There is nothing wrong with being privileged, as long as you have the maturity to appreciate it. Knowing that you are fortunate to get chanels and LV's when there are many girls your age who are concentrating on getting some education to provide the basic necessities of life is important. I'm not trying to make you feel guilty but think it is a very good idea for you to take stock and try to look into the future. Our parents are not always going to be around to buy stuff for us. Once you get used to a lifestyle and comforts, it is difficult, if not impossible to step it down, so make sure to get a good education so that you can get a good job and afford the luxuries that you are used to at this age.

I run my own consulting firm and have a very comfortable living (i could pretty much buy any bag i want and my DH would not object to it). But i prefer to keep my expenses in control and will allow myself one bag every so many months only and within a specified amount only. I absolutely love bags, but i always try to keep my priorities in focus.

Enjoy all your wonderful bags and good luck in cosmetology school

Well I'm a college student and I earn just above minimum wage. I save the majority of my paycheck but do give myself 20% of the paycheck every payday for gas and spending money. I also do online surveys (about $10/month) and I sell things on half.com. All the survey/half.com money goes towards spending money for now. However I will be moving out in August and will have very little (if any) spending money left each month once I move out. So I'm thinking of buying one last bag this summer and calling it good for awhile.

Fedup- some people just cant do school and that's me. i still go to college and iv'e tried many careers but it just doesnt work out. i'm a full time student so i dont have time to get a job. on monday and thursday i got to school from 9am-5:30pm then 6pm-10pm and tues. wed. fri. and sat i go to school from 9am-5:30pm. and after those hours are spent doing english and math homework. I spend all of my free time doing homework. my parents would never push me to do something i dont like. it's not that they're spoiling me, but forcing your child into something they dont like they will never succeed or they would give up in the end.

    I agree Mollycc.

Sounds like you are working hard, and that is what matters. You are still so young...one of these days you will find a field that you really love and you can make your career in it. Good Luck

Saving here and there...buying on CC's that have good interest rate or waiting for a sale.
