I seem to be the only gal who's actually working and earning good money. I am a web designer, it pays well and I can afford to buy bags. Just as simple as that. I am also married, but I really don't like my husband to pay for my expensive taste (for everything). I get the occasional gift, but then I prefer to receive jewelry .

After all, diamonds are a girl's best friends and even more welcomed when you don't have to pay for them.

I actually turned into a bag fan, when I saw a younger colleague of mine carrying two different Prada bags in different occasions. It pissed me off a bit to see somebody younger with not only one but two expensive handbags, one of which I really liked. So I decided to invest more money myself. After all, envy is also a form of flattery

We own our own company and do quite well. And I have a business of my own that I can do quite well with when I put my mind to it.

Smile Re: Rich Parents? Sugardaddy? Stupid Job? How do you afford your bag addiction?

i have to say i am a bit spoiled in the fact that i got my first louie bag my first christmas. my mother introduced me to my fabulous taste in bags and has bought me a few pieces along the way. as for now, i am a 21 year old court stenographer and i am currently working at a university one-on-one with a student who is deaf doing classroom closed captioning. i am also a medical transcriptionist and i sell jewelry on the side.

everything that i want, i buy it for myself for the most part, aside from my birthday and christmas when i will admit it, i get good gifts. i have a good job that pays very well and i am able to support myself and my fashionable senses.

i am also very lucky to have a sister who has excellent taste in designer handbags, so it's like having double the collection. we do share a lot while still maintaining our own wonderful collections

    wishlist..
    .sofia coppola monogram
.vernis alma mm in pomme d'amour
    .artsy mm
    .python galliera pm
    .monogram galliera pm

Part-time job [I hate it, but the bags are a motivation. And the hours are decent and work well with my school schedule so its not that terrible.]

Well, I don't have a huge collection of bags... and I certainly don't own anything like Chanel. LOL! I guess I'm more of a bargain shopper. I like to buy stuff on sale or second hand stuff. My husband hates that I like handbags and I usually have to sneak any purchases I make home. LOL! I guess there isn't much of a trade off though, since he doesn't buy a bunch of stuff for himself. Every once in a while, he'll make a big purchase but its usually something that's for both of us. So I guess I can understand why he's annoyed. We are broke most of the time after all.

I think it's perfectly acceptable to be bought bags, and I never understood the expression "It's worth more to you when you buy it yourself," because I treat everything I own respectfully. If someone else bought it for me it doesn't mean I would just throw it on the ground or something. A few of us have tried to justify when someone else does the buying for us, and I think we shouldn't try and make it sound bad. Especially if those who buy it for us (parents, boyfriends/husbands, etc.) can afford to and are willing to

^^i think they mean its worth more emotionally because you actually would have worked to pay for it...not that having a boyfriend isnt work even on the best days, but i had a wealthy boyfriend at one time and even though i knew he could afford it it was pocket change for him to give me stuff which to me didnt signify any real caring. i mean if youre a billionaire it wouldnt mean as much to me if you bought me some diamond earring as if you were, say, a waiter at TGIFridays.

I work hard for my purses and this coupled with the fact that I live alone and am totally self-sufficient make me feel justified in spending extravagant amounts of money on purses, shoes, clothes and accessories.

Currently I sell Insurance under the Senior Partner at my Brokerage Firm. Pretty dull but pays the bills, plus Bossman likes me so I get perks from time to time. (a little weird at first but he has always been respectful)
I too have 2 kids but I am separated now (waiting for cheating Military A-hole to return home to commence court proceedings..talk about drama..lol)

That being said, I am no longer pinching pennies like I used to and hiding and bargaining for purse purchases (cheater and CHEAP!). Have to admit my mom is a little well-off (wouldn't say rich) so she gets me a purse here or there when her boyfriend either takes her shopping or gives them to her. Personally I think she gives them to me out of pity for what cheating A-hole did to me.

So I try to live as fabulously as I can on my budget ( this usually means stocking up on moderately priced wine, a babysitter once a month to go clubbing, a regular visit to the hair and nail salon and massages, which i personally feel all parents and nannies should get)

    K so I rambled on enough...lol....forgive me.

could you call my bosses and tell them this? they wouldnt even file a homeowners claim when i fell down their wet and moldy/mossy (water + mold = slick) stairs and tore all the tendons in my foot. they even forced me to cancel my physical therapy because they couldnt come home an hour early once a week for 4 weeks to let me go. i hate them.

Curls, They sound like horrible employers. You can find a better job as good nannies are in high demand. Don't let them treat you so badly or leave.

I'm in the entertainment industry (not adult.. lol.. I'm a singer/model)... one job can pay for a lot of purses. Also... when I'm in a dry moment where I'm not doing anything.. I tutor little kids and get paid VERY well. :o)
