    Angry Totally scammed

So I've bought once from this store before and not had a problem. So I buy a Chanel bag from her 4 weeks ago and paid just over $1,000 for it. I get it and it doesn't look right to me. I take it in a week ago and have it authenticated. It isn't real. I call her store. No answer. I email her. No response. So today I filed with Paypal and clicked to escalate it because I hadn't heard anything from her. But because I put "counterfeit goods" when Paypal wanted to know what the issue was, Paypal closed the dispute saying that didn't fall under the correct heading for getting your money back. Mind you, I've already sent the bag back to her so I am now out the bag and the money. Help! Where can I go from here?
I've already sent a letter to Paypal about it and will call tomorrow, but I need more ammo. Would it be mail fraud perchance? Anyone?

Don't ever ship a fake bag back without first filing a complaint. That's your proof!

I mailed it back before I knew she wasn't going to respond. But yes, it was stupid.

Yeah, if you ever file a dispute with PayPal, never do anything to the item or give it back to the seller.

not just DC, you need signature confirmation to show that the person signed for it and what their last name is, thats really your proof, just DC does nothing for a case over 250.00 in paypal's eyes.

I really hope you find a way to get your money back. That's $1000... that's worth taking them to small claims court over.

Can you do that if they are out of state? They are in California, I'm in Texas.

Paypal. It was pulled directly out of my bank account through Paypal. I wish it was through a credit card.

Not to sound cheesy but if you are in different states maybe you could go to one of those TV court shows? They are really like an arbitration type thing. They may go to promote their store and get publicity on national television and you will get a free trip and hopefully your money back.

Would be hard to prove without the bag, though.

There is a way to get your money back when you are sold an unauthentic item. Get a written letter from your local Chanel store if you can and that is proof that you have attempted to authenticate the bag. It does pose a bit of a problem that the bag is not in your possession anymore, however. Go to this guide on eBay and it should help you:
