    Default Gorgeous Bag Leaking Color

    Hi everyone!

I just purchased this gorgeous new bag (see attached thumbnail), and then yesterday I noticed that some of the color had leaked onto my white sweater.

The sweater is in the wash now, and it'll probably survive, but I paid over $250 for this bag and just don't expect such a pricey bag to be leaving stains on my clothes!

I've seen some bags that have a tag that says "color may stain light colored clothes" but this one didn't have a warning or anything.

Has anyone experienced something similar - especially with bags that are a little pricier?
    Will this stop over time?
Should I keep the bag or return it?

Augh! Such a dilemma, because the bag is great (awesome color, soft leather)...but don't know if I want to worry about all my light colored clothes (which will become more of a problem come summer).

    Who makes this bag?
I have seen warnings before on bags as well, I think it just has to do with some of the dying processes and types of dye that a manufacturer uses. However, I've never actually had a problem with anything rubbing off on my clothes.

It's a cute bag though it sucks about the sweater.

    Hayden Harnett.

I should add that the sweater came out ok, and I also returned the bag. I just couldn't bear to have a bag that didn't get along with my light colored clothes.

Oh awful! That has happened to me once before.. Isabella Fiore dark blue suede bag, gosh, I don't wear it anymore. Really sucks that they would release a bag like that.

Now my problem is the dye from my jeans rubbing on my light bags!!!! so frustrating.

I'm glad I noticed before I cut the tags off and everything since I probably wouldn't have used a dye-leaking bag much either.

It's bad to release a bag like that, but it was even worse because the bag didn't even come with a warning that the color might rub off! Oh well...

I never even thought about that being a problem with light bags! I guess I don't have many of them and I usually wear shoulder bags, so my jeans never get a real opportunity to really rub off on my bags.

it's called "crocking" and typically it is tested in-house at the factory before being released. most suede will crock (especially black/dk blue) because they are porous materials and have a difficult time holding dye. it's a shame there was no warning - most fabrics prone to crocking have those labels "don't sit on white couches". haha.

sorry this happened to you. i have a new red H-H bag, I should make sure that doesn't crock before I regret it!!!

So sorry to hear about your bag! I had that problem with a red Hayden-Harnett once. A professional cleaner can seal the bag for you. I had mine done for less than $20 and never experienced a problem with it again.
