Default Rain/Snow - Effects on your purses?

So, it's been rainy here in New England and I got totally caught in a really bad storm the other day with my poor Desmo purse. The purse itself actually looks fine, but I feel like I should have somehow been more careful!

I love my purses and wish none of them had to be exposed to the elements, but unfortunately, I have to take SOMEthing with me (usually I will take a cheaper, fabric bag if I know it's going to rain), and sometimes the umbrella doesn't do the best job at protecting when the rain's coming in sideways.

I know a few of you must have been in similar situations. So how do you deal with it? Have you ever been caught in rain/snow with a prized purse? How did the purse hold up? If there was water damage, was it (easily) fixable? Have you ever tried to protect your purse with scotchguard? Does it work? Does it have an effect on the leather?

So far, none of my leather bags have been damaged by rain. (I'm not too sure about snow since we don't have snow from where I live.)

Whenever I bring leather bags during rainy days, I make sure I wipe it dry if it gets wet.

let's just say...i don't treat my bags the way i should. i live in VT and as of now even...it's throwing up snow. i had my speedy with me in 1 hand while the other brushed off snow. no damage... i've been stuck in the rain with other bags and there's no issue. i was concerned once on my pebbled leather Coach bag but even that ended up drying and no marks at all.

I wish I could help but it doesn't snow where I live, heck it was 90 degrees yesterday!! The few times that it has rained, my speedy has held up just fine.

My bags have survived rain and heat! Especially my poor Bbag... she's been through a lot!

So far so good for me, I just don't take my Coach tote out in wet weather since it isn't all leather.

Does humid or hot weather effect leather on your bag??

If its a leather bag, then I usually put protector on it... that way if it gets a couple rain drops on it then its no big deal.

okay update - we just got 8 inches of snow this morning. with Speedy in hand I had a dinky little snow scraper (and of course... decided to wear a dress). The bag got covered with snow. however - it's doing fine now!

It sounds like most people haven't had any trouble with rain/snow (which is a good thing).

Hot/humid weather doesn't seem to do anything to my purses either. Hopefully it'll stay that way!

^ You should air them out once in a while otherwise molds can grow on them. Humidity causes that.
