Default Help me out by answering a few quesitons about Seabags!!

    Hello,

I'm a Business School student at the University of Southern Maine who is conducting a Marketing Opportunity Analysis for a company called Sea Bags, hopefully you are aware of the bags. The point of this study is find out whether these tote bags might make a good product for the college market or not. One of my objectives is to survey the general public and/or college students in hopes of finding college bookstore shoppers. Because this forum is based heavily on handbags, I am asking readers for their opinions.

Posted below are a few questions I have developed. I am hoping that you might take a few minutes out of your day to answer them, either in this thread or via email. Any and all answers are greatly appreciated.

Here are a few of the questions that i hope you can all answer.

*Are Sea Bag totes a product you would consider buying from your college/university bookstore?

*Is a Sea Bag tote something you would purchase for yourself or ask for as a gift?

*Does the cost of a Sea Bag fit into your price range?

*Would you prefer a Sea Bag that incorporates your school colors, logos, or iconography over a style that does not incorporate them?

*Would you be more inclined to purchase a Sea Bag that incorporates your schools’ colors, logos, or iconography if it was sold in your college bookstore?

*Would you be more likely to purchase a Sea Bag over another high-end, branded tote bag because it is made in Maine, is produced from sustainable/”green” materials, and is made by a company that invests in community and charitable efforts?

*How important is the “green” or sustainable aspect of a high-end, branded bag to you?

May I ask a question? You say that the company donates to charity. I see that it is medical research related. Do you know if they test on animals?

i do not know if it has anything to do with animal research. the purpose of my project is to determine whether or not the company has an opportunity to enter their product into the college bookstore market, many bookstores are also stores that carry similar bags from vineyard vines. neither me or my team are interested in the companies charities or anything to do with the company other than the opportunity analysis, this is for a college class project.

I just find it ironic that the company boasts about being sustainable and "green", yet donates its profits to a charity that could quite possibly be neither of those things. I know nothing of the charity, so I don't know what they do and do not do. It seems like a conflict of interest to me though, which might deter some people. Let me look at the company's website though and I will answer your survey questions for you.

Here you are. FYI, I am currently a grad student at a large state university.

*Are Sea Bag totes a product you would consider buying from your college/university bookstore?
    No

*Is a Sea Bag tote something you would purchase for yourself or ask for as a gift?
Maybe, it would depend on the design

*Does the cost of a Sea Bag fit into your price range?
Yes, but probably not that of typical college students. I went to a small liberal arts college, most students there wouldn't spend over $50 on a bag.

*Would you prefer a Sea Bag that incorporates your school colors, logos, or iconography over a style that does not incorporate them?
No, I like the cute environmental themes

*Would you be more inclined to purchase a Sea Bag that incorporates your schools’ colors, logos, or iconography if it was sold in your college bookstore?
    Not necessarily

*Would you be more likely to purchase a Sea Bag over another high-end, branded tote bag because it is made in Maine, is produced from sustainable/”green” materials, and is made by a company that invests in community and charitable efforts?
I like the idea that they are made in the USA and that they say they are "green"

*How important is the “green” or sustainable aspect of a high-end, branded bag to you?
It is somewhat enticing, especially if it is a tote bag that I would use for school and not as a regular handbag
