Trend Alert: The Drawstring Pouch Bag

Here’s an example of old meets new. If you look into the history of the handbag, you’ll discover that the first noted handbag-like accessories arrived in a pouch-like shape that usually dangled off the waist with an opened top fastened by drawstring pulls. Popular by both men and women, these cloth or leather goods were later adorned by gems, dyes and other colorful textiles. Today, the drawstring pouch bag is quite common, but it seems like this season it is more than ever. If you haven’t tried the crossbody bag look, do check out these styles by MbMJ, Temperley London, Jill Stuart, and Matt & Natt.
The Party Girl Pixie is no secret to BagBliss or theBagForum as fellow blogger BRS mentioned this funky piece a while back. Its got more than enough grommets and studs to feed your inner rocker chic and can be found in basic black or Shock orange.
MATT&NATT’s version in the Commix Drawstring Bag is clearly short a hundred or so studs to MbMJ’s Party Girl, but is definitely just as stunning. Besides the rich magenta leather (black version is also available), one cool noted feature of the Commix is that its interior is made up of recycled plastic bottles, and trust me on this one, it doesn’t look trashy.
Jill Stuart’s Krista pouchette is perfect for the gal who wants to try the trend yet keep it fairly simple. It features one solid hue of glimmery metal mesh from handles to pouch. Make this your quick errand or evening bag, as it appears to be quite versatile among casual or formal attire.
Pouch meets artistic effects in the Illusion bag by Temperley London. Swirling designs of gold studs and mother-of-pearl buttons makes this piece unique and quite eye-catching.
Which makes your pick from the pouches? Discover the one that’ll fit your style the best online, by shopping through: Shopbop

Re: Trend Alert: The Drawstring Pouch Bag
Speaking of drawstring bags, I found this under $30 super thrifty-thrill over at Forever21.
Don't be deceived by the name "Leatherette"... this bag is actually *surprise-surprise* made of pleather.

I think it's cute, but would be even cuter if made with real leather.

Re: Trend Alert: The Drawstring Pouch Bag
It would be alright if you were only planning on using it for one season. I would think it would start falling apart after awhile.
It's cute though.
