Designer outlet bags are great .They are overstock or from a previous season etc . I get lots of stuff from the Coach and Michael Kors outlets . Off Saks 5th is another great outlet for bags but it is hit or miss. I agree with the girls here you are gonna have to determine the shape of the bags she likes and the colors and textures etc. Purses are very personal. You can totally surprise her though! Start really paying attn to colors she likes or carries now when in doubt go with black or neutrals and you have to know the shapes of the bags she likes too .Also you can mention bags you like while you are out together etc and get a feel for her tastes. My hubby surprised me with my first designer bag too .Such a sweet thing to do .:)

    thanks for the info.
I am thinking that she might like this bag from ferragamo:

We currently reside here in Bermuda and there is one on display in something like beige whick I think looks a lot better than black.

    what do you think?
Unfortunately, I am stuck with either: Ferragamo, Prada, Jimmy Choo, Longchamp (available here)
If I pick from brands outside the island, I need to pay additional shipping and 25% customs tax.

I love the Ferragamo .Very classy looking and going with a neutral is a good thing .Living in a warmer climate she can rock it year round and it will go with alot. Good eye for bags muymuy! Whichever bag you choose she will love because you have put so much into finding just the right one just for her.:)

it's me again. I almost bought the bag.

i asked a girl friend about it and was told that if I am spending $1,400 for this Ferragamo bag, I am better off buying an LV.

What is with LV compared to a Ferragamo? Is LV the best brand out there? Honestly, I do not like flaunting brands like having LV LV LV all over.

    what's your take? please help.

I would go with the bag you think your wife will like more. The friend may be thinking more of what she would prefer than thinking what your wife would want. It is human nature lol. I for one love LV bags but they are really just not my style . I do hear that they hold up well and also hold onto alot of their original value so it would be alot like an investment .I am sure the Ferragamo would as well. If you feel in your gut that the Ferragamo is more her style I would go with it. LV is a more recognizable label so sometimes ppl automatically think they must be the best bag but it is a personal thing. Some girls prefer the style of certain designers over others.Your wife may appreciate the classic simplicity of the Ferragamo over the LV. Go with your gut :)

There are plenty of LV bags that don't have the classic monogram on them. Just a thought...
I agree with psychomom though, go with what you think she would like.

I am just wondering. What are the chances that you'll see this bag in the outlet stores 3 months from now? I hope that they also identify certain items or designs that they will never offer for 50% off in their outlets.

I remember a Ferragamo in Florida, but they weren't discounted very much it seemed.

Thumbs up Re: Please Help: I am looking for a gift for my wife.

Personally, go for a Kate Spade, Michael Kors, or a Prada.
For every fake bag you buy, you're supporting terrorism, child labor, and other cruel things.

Any of the brands you named (Ferragamo, Prada, Jimmy Choo, Longchamp) are great choices. If you are still considering LV, the Epi line has no logos all over. I've been loving Longchamp leather bags recently. I also think it's overall the more conservative design of the ones named.

The Rival and Roseau styles are very pretty but they are what I consider smaller bags.
