Chain Effect: Bag Bliss's Top Picks
Chain Effect: Bag Bliss's Top Picks
Chains are back and they are better than ever! Well, that is, where handbags are concerned anyway. To be honest, I have always had a soft spot for bags with a chain strap. But what's hot right now are chain details located elsewhere on a bag, not just as a strap. And when it comes to chains on handbags, I personally prefer something that isn't too dainty. But I don't want anything too heavy either. Why so picky? It's simple! I don't want to feel like I'm going to break it! However, I also don't want a chain that is so big and heavy that it feels like I'm carrying around shackles! Yep, I'm a medium-sized chain gal all the way. But what I think is so neat about the so-called chain "trend" is that it can involve any kind of chain, big or small. So there is literally something out there for everyone. So without further ado... I present to you our top picks for chain-detailed handbags!

1. Marc Jacobs Stardust Cecillia Studded Satchel
Chain details that have nothing to do with a handbag's strap may be hot, but no one can argue the feeling a chunky chain strap can give you. The Cecillia is such a gorgeous bag, with its studs and quilted leather. Heck, the chain strap is just icing on the cake!
Currently available here at Nordstrom!

2. Chloe Kira Chain Satchel
Wow, a chain border accenting an otherwise simple satchel. Who would have thunk it? This handbag is perfect for a person wishing for a neutral style with just a hint of uniqueness.
Check it out here at Saks.com!

3. Yves Saint Laurent Nappa Leather Clutch
What an interesting look! Here we have a clutch with a not-so-dainty chain accenting the front and sides. This clutch would definitely add some spunk to your look!
Find it here at NET-A-PORTER.COM!

They all look good to me. MJ has a lot of beautiful bags with chains besides the Stam. The Single is one of the latest ones. It's very classy.

I'm not sure how to take this comment.
It's difficult to know without the benefit of voice and body language, and even harder when you're new and don't know people's forum personalities. anyone. It seems like you're trying to point out that I made a mistake, don't know MJ, was dumb or something like that. I'm sorry if I'm taking it the wrong way, but based on the two words with "?" and emoticon, I can't think of anything else. I apologize if I'm overlooking something obvious.
To clarify, I know MJ and I know the bag posted is the Cecilia, but I mentioned the Stam because that's the MJ with a chain that most people, other than MJ fans, know.

Re: Chain Effect: Bag Bliss's Top Picks
I seriously doubt anybody on the forum would imply that you are dumb...it's just not like that around here (this coming from someone who doesn't know a lot about designer bags & is just learning). It just seemed like you were confusing the Cecilia with the Stam by the way you worded your post. That's all...nothing major.
Back to the subject: I like the Cecilia but that YSL Nappa clutch is TDF!!!"For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone." ~ Audrey Hepburn

Re: Chain Effect: Bag Bliss's Top Picks
Wow... I don't really know how to respond to this post other than I think you are taking my comment completely the wrong way. I was confused by your original post because it sounded like I had said something about the Stam in my post. I was thinking perhaps I made a mistake in writing this post and said Stam when I really meant Cecilia... after all, I was probably half asleep when I wrote this and could have accidentally said one when I really meant the other. And since this post is also on Bag Bliss, I wanted to make sure you weren't seeing something I wasn't seeing. I wasn't trying to say you were stupid, I just wasn't sure where the word Stam came from. When I first read your post, it appeared as though you were making reference to something I said. But now that I look at it again, I can see that perhaps that is not what you were doing.

Re: Chain Effect: Bag Bliss's Top Picks
It looks like a misunderstanding. That's why I stressed that I didn't know to interpret the post and respond. There wasn't much to go by but the two words and smilie. I found it confusing, so I decided to be honest about my confusion. It's no big deal.
I was thinking about these chain bags and looking at gung's new Single, and I must say that it has to be one of my favorite MJ chain bags ever. I think it's so beautiful and also practical.
I like the Stardust and Memphis lines a lot. At first, I was resisting change and didn't want to see the Stam look like anything other than a plain Stam, so I wasn't too happy with Cecilia. But now I'm very open to the variations, both in design and leathers, and I'm enjoying them. I love the Baby Stam and Bonnie.
